Quick, funny, quirky, and really eye pleasing art, it's a recipe for good things to come!

Fun story! Not what I was expecting, and touches the interesting perspective of a lower deity.

I have watched the anime and liked it, but I didn't even recognize this manga as being the same since the art style is so different. I really like the art in this too, it almost looks like Obata's!

my light my love my life

I watched S1 years ago, when it was the only season, and loved it. Diving back into it thru the manga feels nostalgic for me, but I’m also sooo ready to continue this story. The premise is clever, the characters are fun and layered. The first volume is only the beginning/ set up, and I’m so excited to read more.

I wanted to read another shonen (i am getting too sappy w all my shoujos; jk yall I love my shoujos I am rereading yotd atm) and I heard this one is good and actually is funny. I love to support female mangakas- esp when they are publishing as a shonen.

very promising start and i am excited to see where it goes!

The art is great, and the characters are fun.

Loved this manga! It was hard not to! The story is well written, plot is good, characters have a lot of different personalities (good character design or whatever) art is amazing, if you like anything in the lines with soul eater or something similar you should read noragami

This concept is amazing, a minor deity, trying to gain enough followers/money to get his own shrine.

The artwork of the monsters is phenomenal, and I enjoy the blend of action, humor, and the hints of romantic intrigue.

I do wonder where the overall story is going to go, as there are 21 volumes, but overall for a first volume I am hooked

This was a pretty standard fair start for a series with a somewhat unlikeable protagonist in Yato. He's a god looking to be worshipped but berates others, is rude, and manipulative. Meanwhile we have the very enjoyable Hiyori, a middle schooler who is really into wrestling and has a cozy stable home and social life. What has me most intrigued so far is the world building and the artwork when it chooses to delve into action or symbolic imagery. From what I understand so far, there are two shores, the near and far, with the near being the land of the living and the far being that of the dead. In between the two is where gods and ayakashi dwell. The ayakashi are almost like a scourge that feed off negative energy and can lead people into despair.

The plot so far has basically involved Hiyori straddling the near and far shores after "saving" Yato from getting hit by a bus. Now she falls out of her body easily and ends up as a spirit with a tail which if severed will kill her. She's been trying to get Yato to fix her, but he's not being helpful about it. His attitude irks me quite a bit and I hope we get some depth to him. The volume ends with Yato getting a new shinki (basically a ghost that can turn into a weapon when the name is called). The shinki's name is Yuki and he becomes a gorgeous blade but doesn't remember anything about when he was alive. With our core trio in place, I'm hoping we can get some more plot going. The Shinto worldview that heavily drives the mythology of the book is really fascinating and I can't wait to see how it unfolds with other gods.

Yato is a stray god. He has no temple yet, and people don't know him. Through advertising and taking odd jobs, he tries to change that.

Some parts of the story, I'm not sure where it's going.. in some places, the story is so fast, and then all of a sudden switches to slow and contemplative... But I might need some more time to get into the story, as I'm not so used to reading manga yet.
The characters are interesting though, and the drawings are so detailed and full of movement. And I do need to move on to the next part of the series, to see what Yato is up to...
