I enjoyed this story, but it definitely suffers a bit from middle book syndrome and has a lot of set up for the conclusion of the trilogy.

Fantastic! I loved the first book, but this one is even better. I really cannot wait for the final book!

Love this series. Engaging characters and a fascinating world. Another book that makes me wish I was as clever as this author in creating a universe.

This book is the sequel to the Glass Sentence. I enjoyed it as it explains what happened to Sophia's parents and introduces new elements to the plot.

It is not a pure adventure story like the first book but has adventure and political intrigue, with a murder investigation to make things difficult for our young intrepid explorers/adventurers.

It also provides a theory for what caused time to be different across different locations, the very premise for this series.

This book is not a standalone novel like the first book. The story continues in book 3.

My only complaint is Shadrach, Sophia's uncle, doesn't really have much of a role in this novel except as a plot device. Hopefully, he has a more important role in the third book.

Really interesting middle book of a trilogy. Lots of questions left unanswered, I immediately checked out the next one!

I’d been so looking forward to this, but it was a rough reading experience. My daughter’s naps went haywire and I fell asleep early every night. When I could grab a few pages, it just felt so large in my hands. Such silly things to hold you back from a story you like so much.

Overall, this one was interesting but still felt a little over my head at times. I wish I had read this series pre-mommy brain. I totally ship Erroll and Goldenrod and would follow them through so many pages. And Theo! Oh Theo, we gotta get you out of that war. I liked the new addition of characters – Winnie, Nettie, and the gang. There is so much going on in just one book and all of it just made me that much more excited for the conclusion.
