Kind of a decent plot? Fairly entertaining? I'm just happy to be finished before midnight on New Year's Eve to meet my reading goal for the year.

well that was actually completely, wholly, and tremendously devastating. i feel a little hollow inside if i’m being honest. it was brilliant. i think maybe my favourite of the series? seeing all these characters actually having something to work towards after all they have lost, arthur meeting and getting to know his daughter and ford,,, yeah ford was mostly the same but he had a purpose!!! i loved how tender arthur was with his daughter, how much he tried. he always tried so hard no matter what the universe threw at him, and i think that’s what makes the ending even sadder. it just feels like a complete loss of hope. no matter all they went through, however hard they persisted, everything ends up the same in the end. the bit that got me was just how *tired* arthur was in the end. he really went through it in his time. god. it makes me so sad to think about.
these books are just brilliant. the callbacks to all the other books: the nightclub at the end being at number 42, the guy that keeps getting killed by arthur, the way everything ends up back on earth, all of them together. i just cant say enough. i was literally grinning as i was listening, and when ford and arthur were reunited it was actually the best. it was so hilarious and has such a witty eccentricity you can’t help but fall in love. it’s endearing!! but there’s this undertone of gritty hopelessness that makes everything seem to darken at the edges. and it’s something that’s accepted in this universe. i think arthur only understands this as the story ends, but it’s something ford has always known. which explains a lot.
i don’t know. i loved this series, i’m so happy i listened to it (even if it has caused me major distress). martin freeman as a narrator made it even better, he was wonderful and made the whole world come alive. i’ll cherish this one i think.
in my universe i’ll choose to believe they all survived and are living happily ever after :,)
