Probably the worst of the series. It was quirky but never evoked more than a chuckle. It was also more confusing than the other books. So the combination of not that funny and confusing didn't work out so well. I am glad to have finally finished a series I started more than 20 years ago.

Arthur Dent had been in some hell holes in his life, but he had never before seen a spaceport that had a sign saying "Even traveling despondently is better than arriving here."
Arthur's sign could have been describing this book, which ended up just feeling pointless. Following the same characters from a different reality felt like reading a version of the story that got tossed out when he decided a better way for things to go. So although I enjoyed some moments, like with the daughter, I found that I didn't really care because it didn't feel real. And the ending just felt stupid. Although it was the perfect pointless ending for a book that already felt pointless.

Read this one on a rainy afternoon without having to get up. Great time to pass time. Now the series is over and I'm glad it happened with this book. Good storytelling of the characters journeys.
