I think this is my first witch x vampire book, and it did not disappoint! I do see the resemblance in some details, such as the going back in time, to other books like OUABH, so successful advertising for the author

English is the authors 3rd language, so naturally, it's a bit broken here and there. I believe the author is doing a big edit and will re-upload the book. Either way, I'm NEVER going to mark someone down for grammatical errors when English isn't their first language, let alone their second. I'm actually a little bit disappointed in the reviewing community as people have left reviews like that.
It's an amazing talent to write a book in your non-dom language, and it's an honour to read it. Soapstone should be so, so proud of herself for what she has achieved.
I'm very familiar with broken English and talk to folks a lot whose first language isn't English, so I found this easy to read. And if anything, it added to the whimsy and charm of a magical fantasy story!
I love this tale, I could imagine it as an anime or animated series quite easily. The quest elements were well thought out and enjoyable to follow along with.
I will say now that this book absolutely gutted me. It ripped my heart out and stomped on it. The absolute savagery of the writing in the later half of the book brought tears to my eyes and hurt my heart. The way emotion was portrayed was painful but elegant. This is going to be another book that stays with me for a long time

3.5 stars :)
First off I want to thank the author for providing me an ARC a month in advance in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.
I first heard about this book through Instagram, and I LOVED the vibes. Reading it reminded me about Once Upon a Broken Heart (by Stephanie Garber), but with more purple/gothic vibes and vampires (Chaos-coded MMC).
I'm going to be honest- this book isn't exactly my cup of tea. I didn't really vibe with the author's writing style (personal preference) and the relationships of the characters seemed a little rocky. The way they interact felt off for me and it feels like not a lot is happening. It starts off really slow in my opinion, and I didn't really think I was going to enjoy this book.
THAT BEING SAID, the book picks up around half way through. The vibes are vibing and its a good time. I found the adventure aspect to be fun and the plot starts to come more together. Everything picks up and the ending was so unexpected! Literally left me wanting more.
Even though I had a rocky start at the beginning, I am so excited to see where the rest of the series leads (YES! confirmed series!!). Read it if you want the vibes and a fun time. This book has so much potential and I can tell it'll only improve from here.

The vibes and story of this book were amazing! I think if you love a good slow burn, your book boyfriends morally grey and thought “what if Chaos was the mmc in Once Upon a Broken Heart” then this book should be right up your alley!! Loved the magical world and the witchy elements throughout and honestly the fmc Violette was just the sweetest soul. Their journey was so fun and I loved getting little glimpses into Dante’s past and their shared moments were too cute.
Unfortunately I think this book just hit me at a bad time, I was deep in a reading slump so I couldn’t connect with the characters as much which is also why the ending fell flat for me, but that was 100% a me problem I fear… I would still recommend giving it a go if you love all of the mentioned above!!

The writing. .. is just not good. Awkward choice of words, the setences stretching on, the tense changing. It sounds unnatural and stilted.
"The time was late. All the shops were closed except those few that were shining with inviting light, but no silhouettes in the windows were detected"
"The thought that he felt so sick didn't become commonplace and she couldn't get used to it, no matter how much time passed."
Needs much better editing.
