Catching Summer by L.P. Dover

Summer has spent two years surviving the darkness of her memories. Having been tragically separated from her husband, she exists. Trying to work her way through the pain, she never realized Evan was interested.

It's only recently, that she realized, she's interested too. Trying to navigate guilt, remorse, and new love is difficult. Summer just has to be up for the challenge.

Everything seems perfect until strange acts of violence seem to be following Evan. Troubling things are being brought to light and Summer isn't sure what to make of them.

Catching Summer is book 6 in the Second Chances series. I have the others downloading on my kindle as I write this. I loved the story and the other characters. I look forward to seeing their stories come to life.

Sweet story of a supportive guy in love with a woman who has no idea. He longs to help her be who she really is. What is more romantic than a man who loves you and wants to see you bloom.

I have been a fan of L.P. since I stumbled on her Gloves Off series. I loved Armed and Dangerous and Second Chances in giving me another reason to follow around like a puppy.

I really do like this series. This author knows how to write second chance books.

In this book we have our heroine who is trying to put her life back together after the death of her husband. Our hero *swoon* wants her and will not give up. Once they are forced to spend time together it makes it harder for her to keep him out of her head and eventually her heart.

*Sigh* such a good love story. I enjoyed following this storyline and even the drama didn't bother me (shocking, I know). The fact that this couple gets their HEA just makes it even better. This author is fast becoming a favorite of mine!

I started this book without having read any of the rest of the series. I realized about halfway through that it actually was in a series, but that they could each be read as standalones.

I liked the whole of this book. I liked the characters, even though some of it was over the top dramatic, it was still well written. The heartache that Summer went through and is still experiencing during the book were awful, and sad (yes, somewhat unbelievable) but still made me feel for her.

Despite how much I liked it, it was still a bit blah, although, that may be because of all the recent books I've read. They have all been too much for me to handle, and this one seemed a bit dim in comparison.

I will definitely be going back to read the rest of them!

I received an ARC for feedback. I've read a few of these Second Chances books and they are always so very well developed and heartfelt. This book was no less developed or heartfelt, but it seemed a bit too easy and a bit too dramatic in the sense of the villain. Overall, a solid read. Dover always does great characters and a sweet NFL player is never a bad thing. There were some detail issues that drove me a bit nuts, but I'm sort of the stickler for some reality in fiction, which makes NO sense! Enjoy this book!

This author is becoming a favorite of mine.

I am loving these characters! Although I do need more now that I am finished with Catching Summer.

Evan Townsend, ever the hero when someone needs saving. Totally swoon worthy and is patient and kind to the core. Loves deep and hard when he gives his love.

Summer Jacobs, the hurt and broken woman. Loyal to her core and is so broken inside that she won't know if she'll ever come out of the hurt that was caused by her husbands murder and she was there.

Catching Summer is an emotional story with very very hard situations and also very real at times. Crying was an understatement for this one because at times it was too real and I wished it wasn't. I definitely look forward to the next book and would like to know what happens with everyone else.

Definitely worth a look at if you love a sad and emotional story that ends in happiness.

I really loved this book, it was emotional, sweet, full of very likable characters and even had a little sprinkling of suspense. Basically everything I love in a L.P Dover novel.

This story features Summer a friend of Mason Bradley (From Meant for Me) Whose husband Austin an MMA fighter was brutally murdered in front of her. Two years later, Summer is living with her twin sister Lara in North Carolina and co owns a restaurant with Austin's brother Grayson. Summer also has a great group of friends, including some players from the Carolina Cougars, but only a few know of her past including her friends brother and Wide Receiver Evan. Who has long held out hope that Summer when ready will fall for him. However, not everyone is happy to see Summer moving on, especially with Evan and it soon becomes clear that someone is determined to tear them apart.

Overall, this was a really great story, it kept me hooked and I really loved how the relationship developed between Evan and Summer, and how Evan embraced Austin's memory and understood he would always be a part of Summer. And I would happily recommend this book to others and can't wait to read more from this series in the future.

First book from this author and I have to say, I am a new fan. I enjoyed this story of second chances and not giving up on what you want. Summer has to be one strong woman to have to go through such tragic events in her life. I think I would be just like her if I were ever in the situation. And Evan, OMG!!! He was so incredibly sweet, persistent, and of course a football player!! I loved this book and the fact that it didn't have the normal storyline. Can't wait to read more! *ARC received from publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Once again Ms Dover has managed to deliver a great read. With each flick of my wrist I would get more and more comfortable on the edge of my seat as Evan and Summer's story unfolded. At times throughout this book I would find myself running a different emotional race. I've cried my eyes out and then turned around and laughed so hard I'd cry. Other times I would find myself shocked and intrigued by the suspense that was unfolding in the story. This is the sixth book in her Second Chance Series but this book along with all the others can be read as a stand alone.
Evan and Summer's story is one that I've been waiting many months for and I loved every minute of it. So, if you are into sexy football players, people getting second chances at love, or a book that will keep you glued to your spot until the last word has been read then this is the book for you. A definite must read that you won't regret taking a chance on.

If you have read any of my reviews you know I LOVE any and all things L.P. Dover. She is one my go to one clicks.

Sometimes you need a second chance and boy if anyone deserved one it is Summer.
She went through something no one should ever experience. After watching her husband killed, Summer was broken.

This book was hearbreaking and heartwarming. IF you watched the man you loved killed would you open yourself up to love again? This is Summer's struggle in this book. Can she let go of the past and open her heart for another shot at love or is she too far gone in her pain? to find out buy the book

Super cute! I read it in one sitting (that seems to be the theme with me for the last few books I have picked up!). The insta-love is a little strong so that might turn some people off but it isn't terrible. My full review will be on the blog, The Book Disciple
