I figured that I would like this book based on the amusing pieces that I've read in the past by Cocks and Morgan, but this book exceeded my expectations. It's smartly written with a core story that teenagers will enjoy, and with an abundance of pop culture and fashion references to amuse older readers and serve as inside jokes for regular readers of Go Fug Yourself. The book takes a familiar fish out of water plot and makes it fresh and original by injecting loads of humor, bypassing many young adult clichés and completely embracing the craziness of the setting and secondary characters. I liked how both of the main characters were completely relatable and grounded in some way. Everything that Brick says is an absolute hoot, and I adored each of the incredibly creative fake movie titles. Such fun, and how can you not like a book that manages to perfectly employ a Slow Clap?

Finished with mixed emotions. I didn't love or hate it. But loved the writing style, and the realistic relationship between the sisters felt right. Their personalities however was too back and forth for me though, and left me confused as to who they were as individuals. This is however how young teenage girls act, friends one moment enemies the next. Recommended for girls aged 11-15

If this book had a more solid ending, it would probably earn a space on my highly-selective bookshelf. But the ending pissed me off. My mood lightened when I saw the news of a sequel, but then was re-squashed into a million pieces when I realized that the sequel, Messy, is about Brooke and Max, NOT Molly and Teddy (who are really the only characters I care about, although Max is pretty great too.) So three stars it is, and the book is currently sitting on the floor.

A fun, mindless entertaining read that felt like I was watching an ABC Family movie. Sometimes you just need books like that.

Brooke Berlin, the daughter of famous movie star Brick Berlin, finally feels like she might get her father's attention when she wows him with her acting skills. At the same time Molly Dix finds out that Brick is the father she never knew, and now that her mother is dead she is going to move in with Brooke and him. Suddenly all Brooke's plans are ruined and she knows just who to blame. Brooke and Molly couldn't be more different, and they're about to find out just what it means to be sisters in LA.

Written by popular celebrity bloggers, this tongue in check look at growing up famous is littered with present day celebrities and references that will date it quickly, but much like fans of celebrity magazines readers won't be able to tear themselves away. While not as funny as I was hoping for it's still a quick entertaining read.

Actual rating 3.5. This book took me in for a surprise. If you are looking for a book with a lot of drama in it, then this is the book. The story became really addicting in a good way. Once I got to a certain point, I didn't want to put the book down. This book was really good for a quick summer read. I can't wait to read the next one.

molly dix thought her father was a dead sea captain, but on her mother's deathbed she learns that he is actually the most famous movie star in the U.S. thus molly moves from indiana to los angeles, to meet her dad and spoiled half-sister brooke. brooke is not pleased to have someone competing for her father's attentions, but can they team together to stop a nasty tabloid reporter from tearing their family apart?

i've enjoyed small doses of "go fug yourself" so i was surprised but ultimately delighted when i learned heather & jessica had expanded to teen lit. super fun, humorous, reasonably well-written brain candy for a snowy day.
