Wow

This is a very fast pace on the red edge dark and gritty read that will have you turn the pages of this story that has many twist and turns through out this book.

ARC received from the author. Voluntarily reviewing and all opinions are objective and my own. I am not using names in this review to prevent spoilers.

Am I surprised that Shantel Tessier created yet another insane bully romance? Heck no. If you like the Dare series this one is for you!! I realllllly hope to see books from the other two guys. I need them!

What’s so enjoyable about this one is that the book sets up a girl in a group of 4 guy friends. She wants one of them, and he wants her, but they seem to struggle to actually get together. After the drama of the past, jump to the future and he still sees her as his, and she still wants him. His friends go along with the game, but it’s one of them that actually plays the games with them. So from the get-go, I’m assuming said guy will be the one at the end, but really, we see the switch, and it’s a switch that isn’t often done in bully romances. And thank goodness, because I liked him more from the beginning. The other one seemed a bit...strange.

The plot is focused on an alleged murder and rape. I think the way everything unfolded was insanely well done and creative. I did start to guess the “who did it” part, only because there’s too much that didn’t line up, plus his behaviour, but I didn’t guess all the specifics.

As usual, Shantel writes a HOT book. That woman and her angsty, heated, sex scenes! She’s not scared to get down and dirty with her characters and it’s welcomed feature of books in this trope

One of my favorites by her to date--by far! I first thought it’s write up there with the Dare series, but no, I think this one comes out on top. The twisty, insane plot is unmatched to anything else.

My dark little heart ate this the fuck up!

Everything I wanted this book to give me, I was given. This is one of my favorite bully/friends turned enemies to lovers book yet and so much better than Shantels [b:I Dare You|39334442|I Dare You (Dare, #1)|Shantel Tessier|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1524238010l/39334442._SY75_.jpg|60339771] series.

The story starts off with Henley who has witnessed a rape and the subsequent death of a girl from her school. she was able to see exactly who it was, the boy to whom she lost her virginity and one of her best friends Dax Monroe.

He, alongside Scout, Law, and Van make up the 4 horsemen, the most popular guys that rule over their school. Henley, wanting justice sticks up for the victim which in turn causes her to lose her friends as they all support Dax's innocence, and using the power and wealth (due to them being the founding families), Dax does not get convicted.

Henley's father, to protect her, ships her off to her mother but the boys have a different plan, they want to make her suffer and humiliate her for accusing Dax. When Henley is forced back to her old school for senior year, she tries to make sense of her memories as the boys play deviant and sexual games with her, with themes of dub-con.

I'm not gonna lie, I called it at the start on who the "real" rapist/killer was, I just have a sixth sense and was very sus on this guy just from his careless but at the same time calculating behavior as some things just were not adding up. I've got to say I loved Law, he was my favorite boy and was everything an anti-hero should be, so depraved and deliciously dark. Yes, he did a lot of shit to Henley but out of all the boys he was the one who really truly wanted her. Henley was such a good heroine, she knew what she had to do to protect her friends, she might not have had the best choices at times but as crazy as she was I enjoyed her fuckery lmao.

But let's also address how this book actually dealt with real-life situations.

the fact that all the boys backed Dax and they had the power and wealth to brush this topic and bury it happens in real life. The victim and witness blaming, the fact that no one believed Henley, millions of girls go through this shit when it comes to reporting any form of sexual harassment. Boys will back their accused friend no matter the evidence and it just shows how privileged and ignorant people can be.

So this book was pretty damn realistic, but having said that I felt the ending was a little rushed, everything fell into place a bit too well and I wished the person that Henley ended up with did a little groveling. But I guess when you start your "situationship" that crazy, you don't even need to apologize for the hundreds of fucked up shit you did, because too much stuff has happened that it becomes irrelevant. This one is for my true bully trope lovers ;)

Mind Blown!! What twisted darkness Shantel has written! I devoured it in one sitting and she has me begging to crawl back for more! Make You Beg is such a demented read and I loved every minute of it!

Law, Dax, Scout, and Rellik (also known as The Reapers) will keep you guessing and certainly keep you twisted in knots until the bitter end. I was pulled every which way and never knew which way to lean as they played with their little doll, Henley. She stuck to her guns and is a very strong heroine, especially when dealing with her ex-best friends.

Trying to get her life back on track after accusing Dax of rape and murder, which he was acquitted of, is hard to do when The Reapers won't ever let her forget. They pushed, they humiliated, and they certainly brought her to the point where they made her beg. They played with their doll until they all reached their breaking point, but in the end only death will release them from this game. Who will reach it first?

Shantel wove a masterful story and crafted her wicked tale to perfection. I couldn't put this book down and read it from cover to cover in one sitting. Make You Beg blew me away!

First half of the book was so slow and really hard to get through. If I wasn’t reading for book club it would have been a DnF.

4.5/5⭐

This would have been closer to 5 for me if they weren't in high school but that's just my preference.

As far as the actual plot goes, I was hooked! There were so many things that led you astray and I fell for all of them. I couldn't put the book down cause I was dying to know if Dax was actually guilty or not.

Wtf? This book didn’t become enjoyable to read until 60-70% of the way through. It’s very confusing and chaotic with way too many POVs to keep up with. Nothing but a group of rich, f’ed up high schoolers with even richer, more f’ed up parents who do nothing but murder, rape, fight, and torture. The ending was ok and pulled everything in the story together finally at least?

What TF did I just read?!?!

This story left me breathless. At times, while reading Make You Beg, my heart was racing, the words making me feel like I was an active voyeur, witnessing a cataclysmic and devastating series of events, that left me reeling!
If you are thinking of delving into this story please go in blind, do not read the reviews, avoid the comments, and just take the leap. If you have read the previous books of Shantel Tessier, and you loved them, you will be even more in awe with this story!
