A banger of a novel. Solid read through and through- couldn’t put it down.

This would’ve been better if Mallory hadn’t made dumb decisions and the plot twist was doing too much.

Lots of plot twists that change the course of the story at the end. Not a favorite but I would recommend for fans of the genre.

The premise was familiar - a young woman (Mallory) goes to work as a nanny for a kid who draws creepy drawings, turns out her cabin is haunted, there's more than meets the eye about the family, etc. I never get tired of this story even though it's been told a million times. However, the execution in this book was really bad.

The characters (not just the main character, almost all of them) made nonsensical decisions constantly, and reacted in ways that no regular human would react. The plot made absolutely no sense. The ghost was probably the least scary ghost I've come across in a book, but also unbelievable (even if you believe in ghosts). There was a ridiculous villain monologue at the end. The book gets one extra star for not being boring, at least.
