3.5 but rounded up to 4. Finishing this book on the solstice seems right!

I thought for sure at first I was going to end up being super irritated with this book. Going in I thought this story was going to be one thing
Spoiler(all about finding the little Monopoly houses)
, but it turned out to be something altogether different. And well this story became something super heartwarming and grew on me with every passing chapter.

I wasn't sure if I was going to like the sisters as each came into this reunion closed off and each mired in their own problems. But it was absolutely lovely to watch their father's last wish unravel all of that tension and help them to form bonds that will last the rest of their lives. Each new thing they tackled forced them to face the issues in front of them, the things they've pushed down or avoided. By the end of this novel I loved the three of them, their personalities, and the sisterhood they found together.

This is a lovely holiday story that focus on the true meaning of the season and how important family and community bonds can be.

this truly taught me to never judge a book by its cover. what i thought was just another holiday book, this was such a well written and wonderful read, with beautiful lessons.  can someone point me in the direction of a real-life rowan thorp?

i don't typically write quotes in my reviews, but this stuck to me so much.

the exact thing I wanted to read all of december, shame i got to it so late! so cozy and warm and lovely!!! id have to look back but it feels like my favorite jenny bayliss. loved the slow and realistic growth of the sister relationships and desperately desire the connection to a community like this

3.5 ⭐️
A very heartfelt story about sisterly love & the reunion of 3 half-sisters after the death of their father. It was good but moved very slowly and at times teetered on boring. Unexpectedly heavily focused on infertility/surrogacy.

I expected this to feel more like a Christmas story but it felt like a story that takes place around Christmas, if that makes sense.
