This book is like a warm winter blanket. Keeps you warm and smiling the whole way through. I loved all of the characters and it made me want to do my own Winter Solstice dinner!

I enjoyed so much this exploration of the complexities of family, siblings and our ties to childhood. Each one of the North sisters had a special place in my heart whilst reading this book, there's a real sense of community and a look at traditional village celebrations and a legacy that lives on.

A very sweet story! Having an ensemble cast can make it difficult to feel like everyone is fully fleshed out, but I think Jenny Bayliss does a great job of allowing you to understand and follow all of the different characters and what they’re experiencing. Really great story about family. One complaint is that the expositional descriptions given throughout the book - though definitely providing a very vivid picture of Rowan Thorp - was at times a bit dragging to get through.

Absolutely lovely book about family (and a little romance). Bayliss really created a town that I’m dying to visit at winter solstice time. The characters are imperfect in a real way, and I love that we got to go on the entire journey  with all of these lovely people.

2.5 ⭐️ rounded up. This definitely did not feel Christmasy. It read more wintery and it had a lot going on. I could immediately tell I wasn’t going to be able to read it physically and switched to audio. That was the only way I was able to finish the book. I did enjoy the ending though, but overall this wasn’t the Christmas book for me.

Loved this story about family, community, and the winter solstice!

This really made me want sisters and to spend Christmas in a small town! Overall, it was well written but so incredibly long winded. It could’ve easily been 100 pages shorter
