Wow wow wow!!!!! This enthralling take caught me up from the get and kept me hooked ‘til the end! I adore the main characters, the banter between Cass and Drake, the sass of Austyn, the loony toon realizations and confusion of Kyra—plus the world and storyline are just addicting. I can’t wait to have more! Loved every second plus the tension is killing me and I need to know where things go, especially after the cliffhanger!

I got an arc for this book and I loved this. The loose Aladdin theme and everything. I instantly became invested in the characters. I only gave four stars because when they say slow burn... they mean slow burn

2.5 stars is generous.

By 20% I wanted to DNF this book.
By 55%, the book captured a sliver of my interest.
Around 76%, ooh finally things are happening. Let’s gooooo!
Around 86% - the end, what the actual fuck is happening.
*** percentages might be off due to the additional ZA bonus chapters for preorders

Am I interest in what happens in the next book? Yes. Mainly because this book ended in a cliff hanger and I have FOMO. Will I actually continue the series? Unsure. I can’t sit through another 600 pages for something mildly interesting to happen.

Things I liked:
- Kyra’s character. I think I appreciated her character more because I read the prequel book. I do wish she had a little more character growth by the end.
- The banter between the Princess & Drake

Things I didn’t like:
- The pacing of the book
- There was no burn, just slow.
- The first 50% of the book was heavy with character inner monologues
- SO REPETITIVE
- The info dumping during Cassius’s inner monologues
- Cassius was giving Chaol from TOG vibes
