DNFed at 25%. I never DNF a book but I just can’t get into this book. I am so bored and forcing myself to get through each chapter. Maybe i’ll give it a try again in the future but for now its going away :(

Dnf’d at 40% just couldn’t handle anymore fluff. Honestly gutted that I hated this book as much as I did. After reading all the ZA series to date I couldn’t wait for another from the sisters. At this point I honestly feel like the authors are just trying to make their books as long as possible to make up page numbers on KU.

Review of Audiobook Version

Jake and Bridget Bordeaux really brought this story to life. I don't know if I could have had the same reaction to the story if I was reading the print version only. As always, a great story from Caroline Peckham and Suzanne Valenti. I look forward to seeing where this series will go next.

Our most Twisted Sisters are at it again with this amazing new world. Do you like tattooed roughish bad boys? Forbidden love? Was Aladdin one of you biggest crushes growing up? How do yoy feel about dragons and forbidden treasure? If your answer to any of these questions are a big YES for you then strap in! This book and the world of Osaria will knock your socks off!
**be warned - this baby ends on a heart wrenching cliffhanger so come prepared**

Really enjoyed most of it, obviously a sucker for anything they write. Really long for a first book and it dragged on far too much in places. I don’t love travel scenes in books either. Maybe one too many POVs for a first book too, idk. Really loving the Aladdin adaptation, though idk who I’m rooting for which is weird. Kyra is obviously crazy, I really like aspects of both Drake and Cassius, but both also annoy me. Magdor is wild, absolutely insane.

DNF @ 45%. I usually eat whatever the sisters write all the way up but this was just not for me and I hate to say it but bad. Maybe it just wasn’t for me??

anticipated new fantasy

I’ve been so excited for AGOMAG! I already know the sisters do paranormal/fantasy well but this is a different type of fantasy that we can all get behind. Set in Osaria, Austyn is a princess that doesn’t want to be won by anyone but there’s 3 guys that are competing in a pageant to win her favor and the kingdom.

There’s a lot of world building in this one to lay the groundwork for a world immersed in magic, longing, & betrayal. I’m beyond excited to see how this story plays out. All of the interconnected characters remind me of their previous stories and I couldn’t be happier to delve into this new world.

DNF 55%

I have loved every book the twisted sisters have written but this one fell short.

I gave it 2 stars mainly for the plot and detail to the world. However, there was so much word waffle that the first half could have been condensed to 200 pages. Nothing happened within that time that was significant enough to explain to another reader.

The plot was so similar to Aladdin that it wasn't really a retelling but just thrown into a different world. As this story has already been written the story needed work on timing because this was way too long for what it actually needed to be. Characters were described 3 or 4 times by the same person and traits were copied for many of the characters.

It's apparent that the characters are copies of other characters they've written. I couldn't get away from thinking Cassius was so much like Cain from Darkmore and Fox from Harliquen Crew. Drake resembled a more vain and annoying version of Leon from Ruthless Boys and Ethan from Darkmore. I could go on. This is the only book so far where I haven't been able to gel with any of the characters.

Unfortunately, I won't be reading the rest of the series. I think the books are getting longer because the sisters think this it was readers want when actually we just want good content.

4.5

This Aladdin retelling has potential to be one of my new favorite series!

This book has everything I would have expected in a series debut. The world building is incredibly rich and different than anything I’ve read in a while. Even though Osaria is a desert kingdom, I really appreciate how the sisters didn’t make it seem like a run down, third world country, like a lot of people seem to assume from Arab or Arab-inspired countries. And I REALLY love how they wrote all the characters to be brown or black skinned. The magic system is also something completely unique, Fae being gifted several different Affinities that are connected to certain gods and their powers. And even though it’s a “retelling” only the skeleton of the plot is based off the story, everything else is so different and unique. I’m excited to see where this journey will take us.

The characters are also very well written and I’m excited to see what comes of them. The sisters continue to amaze me with how they’re able to write alllllll these different books with dozens of characters and still have them all be completely different. Oh, and there is almost zero romance in this book, but I appreciated that. Although this book was a thick boi, it was heavily focused on world building and setting up the plot, instead of forcing a romance right away. There is some nice flirting and banter, so you know there will be more romance in the future, but it didn’t make sense in this book and I’m glad it wasn’t the focus.

Let’s start with Kyra.

Ugh when will we get the next one this was so good. I loved all of the characters and my favorite was Kyra. I loved seeing her go from locked in her prison to being out and meeting people and seeing her character growth in that way I really can’t wait for the next book. There was a bit of a cliffhanger at the end, but I thought overall, the book wrapped up nicely, but it definitely sets up for book 2.
