Very often I start my year with Stephanie Plum, after discovering my favourite Bounty hunter around 15 years ago, I've been a fan ever since.

These are not taxing reads, often following the same formula, but if, like me, Stephanie, Lula, Morelli, Ranger, Grandma and the gang feel like family, then I suspect, like me, you don't actually care that each story is much like the last!

Saying that, Rise and Shine Twenty Nine did have a mystery that needed solving and the addition of Morelli's crazy grandma Bella to the team made for increased enjoyment.

One thing I do have to say, which reduced the enjoyment for me slightly, is the continued love triangle between Stephanie, Morelli and Ranger. I mean, seriously, 29 books in and she still hasn't fully decided!! I get that they're both HOT and what 'single' straight lady wouldn't be keen to test drive them both...but, for me, she's not single, so she shouldn't be letting both men stick their tongues in her mouth. As Lula quite aptly said "He gave you the tongue. That's cheating right there. Tongue counts as a cheat."

The annoyingly ever present love triangle aside, I'm here and ready for book 30!

At this point if you have followed Stephanie over the years, you know pretty much what will happen. She will have issues bringing in her fugitive, cars will get bombed, and she will swing between Ranger and Joe.

What made this seem fresh and interesting, were the new characters. Bella the grandmother of Joe who hexes people, has a storyline since she is one of the fugitive that step needs to bring in. The case was all about, finding some comic coin and we got to meet a few more colorful characters connected to the comic book world.

All in all a good story, better than some of the previous ones, but just maybe Step needs to mature, make a choice ( i think both should drop her ) buy a house and retire. bit with all that said, on the hold list for the next one.

I'd say the " thrills and surprises" are pretty mild. Wasn't a bad read, just not a page turner. It's a easy read with some pretty good humor.

The further adventures of Stephanie Plum and company did not disappoint!

Not bad but will not seek out others in the series.

Always a pleasure! I usually listen to this series as an audiobook and could hear the reader’s voices in my head as I went along. Light and fun!!! Not enough Cluck n a Bucket!
