I put it on the bookshelf next to Silent Spring. Understanding that this is the collection of speeches she gave in 2018-19 during the school strike, and therefore can be repetitive I think that we need to highlight her key speaking points and start to act. Not sure what's happened since COVID hit but would like to get up to speed so I can respond appropriately to this eco crisis.

Really well written, but repetitive. Important information for sure, but the same speeches were just being rephrased and reused.

I would have felt better about this had I not read it during a global pandemic.

“So we can’t save the world by playing by the rules. Because the rules have to be changed. Everything needs to change. And it has to start today. So everyone out there: it is now time for civil disobedience. It is time to rebel.”

I’d probably recommend people read one speech every day or few days, I just feel like that’s would work best with this format - just as people wouldn’t have heard all these speeches in one sitting, I wouldn’t read them all in one sitting. I did take my time reading this (put it down for a couple of months about halfway through), but I read multiple speeches at a time and do now wish I’d just read one each day.
I’d say it’s informative and gives the basic facts, but is not an in depth discussion on climate change. It’s probably a good starting place for people looking to read more on the issue but not wanting to jump straight into a 300 page long book on the topic.
It is also a few years old now so the facts given will not be the most up to date or reflect current statistics, but still worth a read in my opinion.

This is a compilation of some speeches by Greta. She reiterated time and time again a call for action against the climate crisis. Throughout the different speeches she repeats generally the same information but perhaps what we need to get the importance of the situation is just that. She speaks with much passion and urgency. This is a quick read and accessible even though there are a couple points she brings up about topics that are not expanded upon. However that would be due to the format and the context in which these speeches were given.

The only thing I would have added to this book would be a little more context for each speech and some surrounding additional description, but it's definitely not a significant issue considering the power of the speeches included.
The fact that these speeches have to be so repetitive is extremely alarming, I wish she didn't have to make the same points over and over, but she should be proud to have reached so many people. We've got a lot more work to do.
