Pretty good read- or listen- in my case. Interesting story. Twists and turns, plenty of conflict, character growth, etc. Read like a fairy tale, but much longer.
I did get the sense, towards the end, of "when is this thing ever going to end?!"

I had a hard time with this book, but I think that had more to do with the audio version than the actual meat of the book. The narrator spoke with an accent and while I understand why -- it ended up feeling very stilted and therefore I struggled to connect to the book.
adventurous lighthearted slow-paced

absolutely amazing. one of the best books I've read in a while.

The first half of this book massively gripped me. I felt I was excited to see the relationship grow between Neishka and The Dragon.

There was enough political intrigue and threat from the woods that I was excited to keep going.

Then from 50% onwards it became a clown fiesta of events. Next event. Bam. Next event.

And for a good 40% of the book The Dragon isn't even present. But I am supposed to think they have some magic connection because they nearly banged once. Give me a break.

I feel like we could have had less scenes, with more detail, allowing the plot to breathe a little before moving on. I don't feel like the romance was fleshed out enough for me to care

Plus he is 200-300 years old. And she is 17. Yet they bang... Naomi Novak couldn't have at least made her 18?

Nope. Not okay.

What a traumatic story with the strangest romance & a villain who is not at all a villain, but a victim.

I probably wouldn’t read this again, but it was good enough!

This was a good read, a bit slow to start with but the further you get into the book the more involved you get with the story. I liked the tension around the battles and the wood itself, the writing is lyrical and sometimes sparse but this works with what the book is all about i felt. I look forward to reading more by this author.
