I absolutely loved this!!! The audiobook was amazing, and although it made me emotional at times, the newfound family aspect was so heartwarming ♥️ I love it when the characters make you wanna be a part of the book

I hate to rate this one low—especially after loving The Mixtape—but The Wreckage of Us wasn’t my jam. While I appreciated the dramatic storyline, the characters felt maybe too young for me. Even the ‘adult’ struggles they faced still carried a YA vibe that didn’t quite land.
No knock on Brittainy Cherry’s writing though! I’ll still read more of her work. This one just didn’t connect with me like I’d hoped.

There’s something for everyone
If you want to feel something, something real, pick up this book, or any other book by this author. I cannot praise this author enough by how she is able to convey something so raw in each of her stories. This one was so heart wrenching, but it was also beautiful. Hazel was admirable in the way that she made the best out of all the cards she had been dealt and she kept looking forward. I don’t know how, but Ian was flawless. You’ll have to read this to understand what I mean. I generally don’t like small town stories, but this on is an exception. The many layers to this story add a complexity that makes it a thrilling read.

3.5 Stars
I listened to the audio of this one. I think I've realized that, if I want to feel a book with strong emotions, listening to the audio will take that away from me. I seem to "FEEL" more when I read it with my eyes. I think that may be why this is only a 3.5 star for me. I didn't shed a single tear although others say they cried a lot. I really did enjoy the listen though but it didn't pull at my emotions enough to give it a 4 star. I may need to re-evaluate which books I listen to vs read with my eyes.

While I did enjoy listening to this book overall, it strongly confirmed to me that I don´t really like the "enemies to lovers" kind of stories. No, I really don´t like them. Even if such or similar stories might happen from time to time, I think that this kind of narrative in general does more bad than good for women.

What a pleasant surprise. I went into this book very blind. It definitely has very heavy topics, but I enjoyed it so much
