I don't know how Brittainy Cherry does it...but she always does it. What is the "it"? It is magic. It is transporting me from my little fire surrounded reality and depositing me in Eres, at a ranch, watching two people love and heal. Creating a family through lyrics and the breaking down of walls. Existing within the stars and moon, while loving each other completely. Finding strength within friendships that mean more than even blood family has shown you. This book was more. IT was beautiful, heart-wrenching, laugh out loud, tears falling through a smile, epicness that I have deemed one of my very favorites of . My quantity of books is low (I totally blame 2020) but the quality of what I have read this year is some of the most exquisite heartfelt stories I have experienced. So thank you Ms. Cherry and please continue to slay with your words, they so make a difference in an otherwise bleak moment in time. This is a must read story of survival, rising above and making more out of what the world has shown you. xo

Brittainy Cherry has a way of crafting stories that seep into your soul, and The Wreckage of Us is no exception. This novel isn’t just a romance—it’s a deeply emotional journey through pain, resilience, and the healing power of love.
At its heart, this story follows Hazel, a girl who has known nothing but hardship, and Ian, the brooding musician who seems to be her complete opposite. Their connection is slow-burning, built on tension and unspoken understanding, making every moment between them feel raw and real. Cherry doesn’t sugarcoat their struggles—Hazel’s heartbreaking reality and Ian’s internal battles make their love feel earned, not just fated.
What struck me the most was the sheer vulnerability of these characters. Ian’s anger, Hazel’s determination, their quiet moments of comfort—each scene is laced with emotion so heavy it stays with you long after the final page. Cherry beautifully captures the feeling of being lost and finding refuge in another person, of learning to trust even when the world has given you every reason not to.
And the writing? Poetic yet piercing. There were lines that felt like they were meant to be highlighted, reread, and tucked away for when you need to feel something deep.
If you’re looking for a story that will break you, mend you, and leave you utterly breathless, The Wreckage of Us is that book. Brittainy Cherry never fails to write love stories that feel like survival, and this one is no different. Prepare your heart—you’re in for an emotional wreck in the best way possible.
This book made me feel so many different emotions. I was crying one moment and then laughing the next. Big Paw and Grams were both such great people. I loved the growth of Ian and Hazel. They both had so many similarities and so many differences and they were perfect together. The supporting characters were all great too.

This book was... Wow. A kick in the teeth.
You see, I saw a cute boy on the cover, flipped it over and saw it was a touch enemies to lovers, a little small town rockstar romance, and what seems to be a HEA.
Folks, that is not what I got. I mean, I did, but not in the light, fluffy manner I thought I was getting it in. I got kicked in the teeth by a story that could have taken place in any small town with a drug problem - because it sounded eerily familiar to someone who grew up in one of those towns.
Hazel and Ian both have dreams of getting out of their tiny town. Hazel, who wants to save up enough money to get out of town with her pregnant drug-addict mother. Ian, who dreams of being a rockstar with his three best friends. But that small town always beckons, and Hazel is determined to take care of her baby sister while her mother is in jail. Ian gets out for a while, but is the game and fortune worth selling his soul?
Yes, their trials and tribulations are difficult, but I swear Brittany Cherry knows someone who went through the things these characters did, because the utter devastation meth wreaks on the town and the families is a familiar tune.

This was an emotional story to be sure.
Some of my favorites stories are the ones where characters have overcome traumatic events in their lives. Both Ian and Hazel have some similar yet devastating backgrounds in their life. They start off as enemies when Hazel starts working under his management. I totally believed the revolution of their friendship. Hazel just tells it like it is and I so appreciated that. I love the girls that don't wilt under the attention of a hot guy. She is a strong, selfless heroine and she made me love the story that much more. Ian has a tough exterior but a somewhat mushy inside and unwavering loyalty that totally won me over. I'm not afraid to admit that I shed some tears over this story.

This was an emotional ride!
Even though I know that if it is written by Brittainy it will be a wonderful story she comes back and shows us that our expectations were not even closer to the amazing, touching and loveliest work she’s offered to us. Her stories are full of all kinds of feelings and emotions that with every word and action of her protagonists you can't help but feel them as if they were part of you.
On this occasion Brittainy brings us characters so full of dreams, of goals to achieve but also of obstacles and people who will try to stop them in their struggle to realize them.
Hazel is a girl who has grown up with a mother so involved in her drugs and alcohol addictions that she has completely forgotten about her and lives only for her partner who is nothing more than a man who lives off of illicit business. When her mother, on her partner's orders, kicks her out of the house, she goes to the ranch where she has found a job and snoozing in a broken down shed to take refuge until she finds a place to live. The owner of the ranch who is also her employer discovers her, but far from fire or telling her to move out, he forces his grandson to offer her a room in his house and threatens to throw him out if he doesn't.
Ian is not at all happy about training Hazel in ranch work, let alone housing her in his home. He has judge her immediately just for being related to her mother's partner whom Ian blames for not having her parents with him. But the more time passes and he meets Hazel, Ian discovers that she has nothing to do with her stepfather, she loves her mother and does everything to help her even if her help is not welcome.
Ian and Hazel will begin to discover and trust each other, share and support each other, he’s leading The Wreckage, a music band with he’s best friends and Hazel work hard and take online classes to graduate, all of this while taking care of a new born little sister, but who said dreams come for easy? Evil always lurks and jumps out at you when you least expect it and Hazel and Ian will be victims of it.
Without a doubt Brittainy is right again and catches us with another story of struggle, suffering and overcoming, of dreams fulfilled, but above all with such adorable characters that as I read I could imagine them growing, loving and supporting each other at all times.
A very special mention for Big Paws and Grams, this two were a big support to everyone in this book.
As always my eternal gratitude to Brittainy Cherry, Montlake and Netgalley for providing an advanced copy of this amazing story, I voluntarily and honestly read and review. Thank you so much.
