I cannot believe that Cherry wrote this! Wanted to DNF it, but I love this author so much that I couldn’t at least try until the end!
I didn’t fell for the characters at all, they have no personalities except Holly cause she’s sweet like every Grandma… sooooo cliché, but not in a good way, a romance I didn’t believe for a split-second.
There is no state of time, things happen in the story, but is toss away with a brief sentence or two.
To me, it looks like the author needed to write a book asap and she decided to put all her ideas without connecting the dots while writing it. Very deceiving considering I give 4 to 5 stars rating of all her books before and Cherry is one of my favourite author!

"Again?"

Yes, again and again! This story of Ian and Hazel, I wanted it to never end. From the way that their history was connected, to the friendship that became a love unconditional.  This is another amazing story from the mind of Ms. Cherry.

Ms. Cherry has the rare writing talent of bringing readers into the story, whether it's laying and watching the stars, to embracing the music that the Wreckage makes.  The muse that Hazel becomes to not only Ian but the whole band.

For characters that were young in age but life has made them mature faster, but there's still the dreams that young hearts and minds want and nothing will stop them.

I fell in love with the whole cast of characters in this book. And I was invested in each one.  Music, family and home are the main focus of this story and the talent that Ms. Cherry has with her words will move you, like it moved me.  The bravery of Hazel, to the talent and determination of Ian, you are going to fall hard for this story!

GAH this book! The emotions! Everything that Hazel and Ian have endured their whole lives to come out as fighters. The way they class adds that much tension to the story. But their push and pull was so magnetic. When things open up and they start to understand each other more. How much they each have each other's backs and how they love. OMG! The whole concept of this story is heart wrenching and down right wow! I was blown away with the depth of the story with every bit involved between Ian and the band and how Hazel fit into it all. It was beautiful and honestly, I am at a loss for words for this one.
I have been a fan of Cherry and her work for a while and each time I read something of hers, I am blown away at the complexity and the concepts of her stories. They are unique and one of a kind and hits you right in the feels. With The Wreckage of Us, you are taken on a journey of love, loss and finding your voice. The connection that Hazel and Ian have is intense but all encompassing. I was so sad when I finished because I really wanted more with this world. It was poignant and beyond stunning! I highly recommend this one!

MEINE MEINUNG

4 WRECKED CROWNS

I did enjoy this newest release from Brittainy Cherry. Well written with a tale of overcoming tragedies, The Wrekcage of Us is story of love and friendship and chosen family.

Hazel and Ian both have had rough pasta, which results in a tumultuous beginning for them. Throughout the story, though, they overcome these hurdles through their love music. Their relationship seemed natural, but I didn’t ever really feel the chemistry between them. It was believable but not something I felt.

The story is filled with a host of secondary characters, and I loved the essence of family they bring to the story.

Additionally, the story is paced well and filled with a good story line. There wasn’t anything really unexpected in the plot, which maybe is why I didn’t feel affected by the story. It was good, solid writing, but it didn’t make me feel, which is unusual for me and a Cherry novel.

While this one didn’t knock my socks off, I did enjoy it and would recommend to readers who love a small dose of enemies to lovers, rock star romances, and characters with troubled pasts.

ARC review

4.5, You are my melody, Stars!!

“The music felt realer with her help, it felt authentic. It felt as if Hazel Stone was the missing piece to my dream coming true. She was the muse I’d been praying for, and I hoped she’d keep helping me co-write songs that would change my life.”

“I’d give you every lyric that was inside of me to make your dreams come true, Ian.”

“I’m fighting for you whether you like it or not, Hazel Stone. Our love song isn’t over. We’re just getting to the chorus, and I’m going to sing for you, for us, until forever.”

“He was it for me. He was the hook, the bridge, and the melody.”

Brittainy C. Cherry has done it again!! She’s brought beauty and passion to another unforgettable romance! There is seriously nothing this author can’t write that I won’t pick up. The Wreckage of Us takes you on an unforgettable journey of love and sacrifice. It’s a story that will be staying with readers long after it ends….

The Wreckage of Us captivates you from the very first page. From the moment I met Hazel, my heart broke for this poor misunderstood girl. Life has been anything but kind to her and she’s doing all she can to keep her head above water. She just needs one person to take a chance, even if that means she has to work with her enemy. On the outside, Ian’s life looks perfect. He’s got a great job, the perfect setup and he’s part of a band. But, when Hazel shows up to work on his family’s farm, he’s not having it. Hazel represents all the bad in his life that he tries to keep at bay. He’s tough on Hazel but quickly realizes that everything isn’t as it seems and that maybe, just maybe he’s misjudged, Hazel. Life has a funny way of putting people together when they need them the most. Hazel and Ian have a lot more in common than either one of them could have imagined. Will Hazel and Ian’s friendship turn into more? When life throws more curveballs at them than anyone should have to handle, will they make it out on the other side? Or will their lives be turned into wreckage? There’s only one way to find out….

The Wreckage of Us is a fantastic read from beginning to end. As I previously stated, I was sucked into Hazel and Ian’s story instantly. These two characters were so alike. Life had dealt both of them some pretty crappy cards and it was up to them to make the most of it. One of the things I loved was the slow-burning connection between Ian and Hazel. I am not gonna lie, I was not a fan of Ian in the beginning. He was such a jerk, and even knowing that he had his reasons for his actions. I’m happy to say, he did win me over in the end. And Hazel…How could you not fall in love with Hazel? She had the biggest, most beautiful heart. There isn’t anything she wouldn’t do or sacrifice for the ones she loved. Together, Hazel and Ian were the absolute perfect match. She was the missing piece he was searching for. His muse. His everything. They were made for each other. Two lost and kindred souls that had finally found their way home and would stop at nothing to find their happily ever after.

The road to happily ever after wasn’t an easy one for Hazel and Ian, but it was so worth the journey. I loved every bump in the road. Every sacrifice. Every moment that ripped out my heart and each moment that left me begging for more. Brittainy C. Cherry has a way with words unlike any other author I’ve come across in all the years I’ve been reading. Her words are everything and The Wreckage of Us is just the latest example of just how amazing her words are.

*I was provided an ARC copy of this book via the publisher & NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review*

She did it again. Another home run/slam dunk for Ms. Cherry.

Either I'm not as sappy or she didn't make this one as anxiety ridden as some others. I did want to shake Hazel and tell her to TRUST those around her and not carry the burden herself, but that's not how she grew up. She grew up taking care of herself so..... but I just wanted her to TRUST them.

I did/do want more of the AFTER parts. The time jumps were great but..... UGH I want more. Not a bad thing at all, but ugh.

Oh the tears. Grams

DNF - I'm not sure what's happening, but for me, the last two Brittany C. Cherry books were both not quite right. The writing didn't work for me, I didn't feel connected as I usually do. Plus it's missing the magic all other of her books have.

I so wanted to love The Wreckage of Us! But, unfortunately, I struggled to connect with the characters and their story. And while there was a lot of drama and potential heavy issues, they never reached their peak and either mostly fell flat or were dragged for too long.

Maybe it was the fact that the main characters are young (Hazel is 18 and Ian is 24), yet they behaved way older. And while I appreciated how Hazel stepped in being the responsible one and trying to do the right thing, it almost felt unnatural and forced at times. Ian seemed mature at times, and others he behaved like a child.

I did love Ian's grandparents: Big Paw and Holly. They were adorable and imparted the best words of wisdom. Most despicable characters? The Wreckage's manager Max Rider. He. Was. An. Ass.
