This was a far sadder collection of poems than the other collection of Blaeser's that I've read (Apprenticed to Justice) and felt rooted in specific moments that I would expect to see in a memoir. There was still a lot of imagery of the natural world, and metaphorical connections between the two.

The poems I enjoyed the most were "Absentee Indian," "Twelve Steps to Ward Off Homesickness" (relatable), "Passing Time" (I'm a sucker for poems that mention kitchen tables for some reason), and "zen for traveling bards."

As an Indigenous people myself but from different country and continent, I am currently reflecting on temporarity and the search for home. This collection speaks to me so profoundly and I applaud the poet for putting the many-layered of struggles a nomad like us experience through our day to day life throughout the seasons and years and across the seas and lands. Such a beautiful collection!
