I highly recommend this book, especially in audio form. It's read by LeVar Burton and features some music and Mr. Rogers singing at the end. Beautiful story of a beautiful man.
Insightful and well-researched if at times repetitive. So refreshing to read about a man like Fred Rogers.

This was an in-depth biography of Mr. Rogers, as far as I could tell. An interesting look at the man behind the man we all grew up with. Turns out he is the same guy we watched on TV. This was an audiobook that breaks one of my rules. I generally only listen to autobiographies read by the author. When I saw this, I only listened because it was read by LeVar Burton. I felt he was a suitable stand-in.

You can't get sweeter IMO than a book about Fred Rogers read by LeVar Burton. It was really easy to listen to and a deep look into what drove the man behind the show I loved as a kid. I think of Mr. Rogers often as a adult and I liked the look into his life.
A very in depth look at the life of Fred Rogers. Very in depth.
Rogers' life was interesting - born into incredible privilege his family was the embodiment of paying it forward. That would normally be enough to engage readers but the repetition causes the story to drag. At least three times we hear about the air conditioner purchased because of young Fred's asthma - an interesting tidbit that shows how Fred grew up having to amuse himself, how wealthy his family was and what lengths they were willing to go to take care of their children - but not needed to be reiterated three times.
It took me a long time to read this one, I'm glad I did but a good dose of editing would have been welcomed.

What a beautiful soul Mr Fred Rogers was. A marvelous tribute to his life and work.
Gonna be honest, had this not been the audiobook version, it might not have gotten 5 stars. As many have pointed out, it's a little *too* detailed, and I could see how some sections would drag along if I were reading them. But Levar Burton could read the phone book and I'd be a rapt audience, so this was, at least in my opinion, perfection. One of the greatest humans ever reading about another of the greatest humans ever? Gimme. ❤️
Ok listen I did not cry at the end of this book you did
