I enjoyed Felicity’s writing (she’s very funny) but most of the dishes didn’t exactly make me hungry - way too much offal for my liking! That said, the journey itself was enjoyable to follow and I liked her croissant rating system!

This was my 2022 christmas gift, which I read during the 2023 Christmas, but I wasn't lucky enough to read it in a french café eating croissants. No matter, I enjoyed it a lot anyway!
There was a bit complaining and a small obsession with lycra, but all excused, since the tour of France on a bike, while eating amazing food and pastries and drinking wonderful wines overshadows anything!
It kind of made me wonder why I never tried such a thing until I remembered that I couldn't cycle uphill even if my life depended on that.
Hats off to the amazing effort, that she lived to tell the tale, and making my mouth water more than once!

A fabulous read, it made me feel hungry most of the way through. Love the recipes at the end of each stage, there’s a few I’ll be trying.
Fascinating snippets about the French way of life - I’ll be looking at croissants in a new light from now on.

Lovely read - successfully made me want to go to France and eat a lot of pastry.

Completely overlooked the part of it being a non-fiction book. I would not have started reading it then. Also, what type of non-fiction? Cookbook? Travel book? Biking book? All of the above - wanting to be too many things, I think.
I was hoping this book would be similar to ‘Pearshaped’, which I loved. This, in my very humble non-native English speaking, I-read-one-book-a-month (two if I’m doing really well) opinion, seemed to want to seem fancy by using a plethora of words that did not do anything for the writing (maybe in an attempt to seem funny?) and also just seemed to again seem pretentious. Maybe I just didn’t get it :)
I didn’t care for the recipes (I’m sure they are great, but are you writing a cookbook or a trip through France or?),
I don’t think I’ll come back to this book. It was SO difficult to get through.

A really quaint foodie Tour de France by an exceptional food writer. Only gripe was the author taking a little too much pride in being rude to some hospitality staff, in my opinion.
