Hold on for a fantastic ride with the fae and vampires. This reverse harem centered around Maeve, the queen of the shadow court and prophesized to be the one to bring all the courts together. She was born during wartime, and in order to save her, she is sent to a human family to wait out her 21st birthday, when she will be ready to take her rightful place.
As someone who hasn’t read much of PNR, this was such a treat. It was full of fantastic themes but it was written so well that it was easy to follow through the story. The first part tells the story of how she brings her harem together, and boy, there were some sexy scenes there; and the second part takes us through the adventure of gaining her power as the queen; and there were very sexy scenes there too! This sure did not disappoint.
I listened to an advanced copy of the audiobook and talk about eargasms! Stella Hunter, Shane East, Jason Clarke, Teddy Hamilton, Jacob Morgan played the main characters. It was so good, I could barely contain myself. Shane was passionate as always, Jason with his British accent was so swoony, Teddy with his vulnerable portrayal of the vampire was heartbreaking, and Jacob’s flirtatious mer-man was so entertaining. Stella does so well holding her own and being boss-queen around all these alpha-men.
Wesleigh Siobhan and Kylie Stewart round out this cast as the supporting characters and each made their scenes so memorable as well.

OMG so freaking HAWT!! I honestly don't know what to say about this book. Everything was just amazing and perfect. The cover is so very beautiful. The narrator's were absolutely awesome; they were perfect for their parts. I would LOVE to see this turned into a series or at least continued. I LOVED the bonus story on Valor. I want to go back and read the book too.

This story had a lot of potential, but it was almost entirely surface-level. The only reason I finished the book was because I had the audio edition, and the cast was absolutely wonderful! However, I don't know how they were able to read their parts with straight faces! The male cast totally carried the book. It was even read in duet-style (one voice-actor per character, rather than just switching with point of view).
Insta-love. Everything happened so quickly. Characters acted and reacted with little more than token motivations, often which made no sense. The main character had powers and knew how to use them with little to no training. Etc. etc.
Perhaps the best word to describe the book is shallow. I really wish it had been better! Save your money and your time and skip it.
