Set in a fantastical world, Abdullah is a buyer and seller of carpets. Often harassed by his deceased father’s wife and her family, Abdullah longs for adventure. Abdullah gets his wish when he chances upon a man desperate to sell a magic carpet. What begins as a simple mystery - how do I work this carpet? - evolves into a globe-spanning adventure, with the fate of the world’s kingdoms resting on Abdullah and his carpet.

Although the second book in a series, it is not the sequel to the first book. You will not need to have read Howls Moving Castle to enjoy Castle In The Air, however if you have read the previous one, you will recognize familiar characters and events.

What I loved about reading this book is how the author expertly weaves the story, allowing us to discover deeper meanings to things as Abdullah does.

I look forward to reading more of the authors work.

DID NOT FINISH

Didn't really like where the story was heading, and I wasn't really into the characters
A let down after the first book. I'll probably not continue the series

Wow, that was a really good fairytale. It's no brainer that this was a retelling of Aladdin mixed with the Howl´s moving castle. We have a magic flying carpet, a genie and a intelligent & strong minded princess. There are also many shenanigans of a guy who starts being overly polite and by that getting shit from everybody, and ends learning to stand for himself.
I love how, even though the super powerful wizards are normally men in this books, with have some awesome, strong and badass women that get shit done and are not waiting for those powerful wizards to rescue them. Life goals.

Just one advice. Almost anyone in this books, as far as I can tell, is not what they seem to be. They are all enchanted. Like I wasn’t surprised anymore that at the end of this book everyone started to turn back to their original selfs. I kind know it will come to that and it was fun guessing who is who, even though I really only guessed right one.

This story is really fun and light, perfect to enjoy and relax with. It won’t make you have deep thought about the nature of humanity or something like that so it’s perfect as a in between book.

I’m really can’t wait to read the last one in the series, fortunately I won’t have to Wait long.

Pretty terrible fatphobia.

An entertaining story that follows up on Howl's moving castle (although that is not so clear at the beginning of the book). I didn't find it as charming as the first book, and found that it borrows too many elements from the usual 1001 Nights tales, but Diana Wynne Jones' usual sense of humour made it worth the read.
I found it interesting to get to know what had become of Sophie and Howl after the epic Howl's moving castle. I am excited to read the next book.

Although this is the "sequel" to [b:Howl's Moving Castle|6294|Howl's Moving Castle (Howl's Moving Castle, #1)|Diana Wynne Jones|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1407450489s/6294.jpg|2001] it actually just barely features the characters from that book (Sophie, Howl, Calcifer).
