I really enjoy the writing, humor, world, and the characters. However, this was the second time I picked the book up cause I stopped reading it the first time due to the racist characterizations. Between that, the misogyny, and fat phobia, it was a disappointing follow up to the world of HMC (which is one of my FAVORITE BOOKS!)Rated it 3.5 for the things I enjoyed but I wont be surprised if I change it to lower the more I sit with the book.

One of my favorite books of all time gets a sequel that's Islamophobic, anti-Arab, and alienating. The characters from Howl's Moving Castle also feel out of character.

Similar to the first, if you were concerned, in that it is also a fantastical story with a plot full of twists, of someone going on a magical adventure! Even if Sophie and Howl only show up later in the book; I think Diana just has a way of making lovable characters! Abdulla had a special place in my heart <3
