No surprise here I loved I Could Be Yours!! Helena is the queen of romance and I just love the worlds and characters she writes so much!
I Could Be Yours is a standalone romance in the same world as the Terror Hockey series, and all about the adorable and quirky Essie (BFF to Beatrix) and Nate (brother to Tristan).
I mostly listened to the audiobook and Savannah Peachwood and Teddy Hamilton are DREAM narrators. They did a great job voicing all of the friends and different characters at the wedding and especially capturing the emotional depth of Essie and Nate 💕. Great intonation, inflection and pausing.
It features some awesome tropes:
- maid of honor and best man
- wedding planning
- forced proximity
- friends with benefits turned romance
- second chance romance
Thanks so much Helena and Dreamscape Media for the arc! All thoughts are mine.

Helena Hunting has done it yet again! She has again given us a fantastic book with truly amazing characters, which I have been waiting for since they were first introduced to us!
I Could Be Yours features Essie Lovelock and Nate Stiles, who have known one another since high school, where they shared a kiss and then Nate ghosts her for the next six years, where they eventually have to see and talk to one another again when they are thrown together to plan a wedding.
The tropes included in this book were some of my favorites, and it just made this all the more interesting. I truly adore reading a good second chance and enemies-to-lovers romances.
I truly adored Nate and Essie so much, and I was honestly so excited to get their story because I just knew they had a story to tell. From the moment I began reading I was completely sucked in and i just knew I had to keep reading to see exactly how their story was going to end and I was certanily not dissapointed.
Nate Stiles, for those who have read the Toronto Terror series, is the brother of Tristan Stiles. Although this can be read as a standalone, you will see some familiar faces. Anyways, when we are introduced to Nate, we see that he is a little grumpy and doesn’t show or express his feelings or emotions well, but despite that, you can just tell that he cares so much for his family.
Essie Lovelock is the polar opposite because she tries to find the positive in everything. She really is such a ray of sunshine, and I just adore her so much, and I just knew I was going to love her character so much when we were first introduced to her in the first Toronto Terror book as the main character Trix’s best friend.
The storyline between both Nate and Essie was perfect to me, and I just think they were the perfect pairing. It was nice to see the way Essie was able to break down some of Nate’s barriers, keeping him from showing his emotions and letting others in. They fit together so well that I did not want to put their book down until I finished it all. I loved that we were able to get glimpses of some of the other couples we have met before in previous books of Helena’s.
Helena truly knows how to bring us such a fun read with lots of spice, laughs, and emotions. I just love to read whatever she writes; she has such a gift for giving us books that we all love and adore. I highly recommend I Could Be Yours because it is a great book with such a fun plot and overall storyline that will leave you wanting more.

I love the Toronto Terrors and their world so it was exciting to return to it for Tristan and Rix’s wedding festivities. If you haven’t read the Toronto Terrors series, I highly recommend reading that first, though I Could Be Yours can be read as a standalone.
Essie has disliked Nate ever since he kissed her and then ghosted her afterwards and they must figure out how to get along and plan wedding events together since Essie is the maid of honor and Nate is the best man.
They discover they still have sizzling chemistry, but Essie loves love while Nate doesn’t believe in it. They collide in an epic second chance romance love story that will make you laugh and cry. It’s packed with spicy goodness that will leave you wanting more.
Five stars. Amazing characters including favorites from other Helena’s other books. (Kodiak and Lav!) All the drama. Sweetness and spice. Heartache. Helena Hunting did not disappoint. (Does she ever? No. The answer is no.)

This book is the wedding of Tristan and Rix/Bea from If You Hate Me, book 1 of the Toronto Terror series. It is not from their POV, though, it's from Rix's best friend Essie and the best man Nate.
Honestly, skip this.
This book lacked the charm of the Toronto Terror series it's based on. The whole crew is here but if you don't know the background, that doesn't feel important.
You've got a magnetic relationship between Essie and Nate for a few chapters, but it doesn't last. About 2/3rds of the way through, the subplot of Tristan's emotional growth becomes a key plot point and the therapy talk gets heavy-handed and preachy. The last few chapters were so saccharin sweet it was hard to finish. Dialogue like "Thank you for sharing your light with me" from Nate and "I know it's important that I do the work so I can have the kind of relationships I deserve, and so I can be a good partner" also Nate, made it a struggle to stay engaged. These statements broke my immersion.
I'm not saying he's wrong. It's a lovely sentiment. I'm saying that between the push and applause for Tristan's therapy journey and this with Nate's, it's too much. And truthfully, it felt like Nate's entire personality changed. And why can't people just be grumpy? His grumpiness was "solved" with therapy, but he seemed more multi-dimensional than that at the beginning.
I received an ARC of this book - it didn't influence my review.

Helena did it again! She has such a gift for writing characters you can’t help but fall in love with. While Nate and Essie’s story is technically a standalone, it still brings in all the familiar faces from the Toronto Terrors series—and even a few surprise cameos.
I read the book on Kindle first, and then the advanced listener copy became available—Teddy Hamilton and Savannah Peachwood narrating? Yes, please!
I’m absolutely obsessed with Essie. I think we all see a little of ourselves in her dreamy, fairytale view of the world. She’s a bit lost in the clouds, and because she’s stunning, people often underestimate her. Nate, on the other hand, is the sexy brainiac with a whole lot of emotional baggage. Their story is a delicious mix of second chance, enemies to lovers, and sister’s best friend—and watching them grow and find each other again was so satisfying.
Not going to lie, there were definitely moments where I wanted to smack Nate upside the head. But then I’d remind myself—he’s working through some heavy family stuff, and he’s doing his best.
All in all, Helena delivered another hit. If you haven’t picked this one up yet, what are you waiting for?
Thank you to Dreamscape Media & NetGalley for an ALC of this book, in exchange for my honest opinion.
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫3.5 stars
This was a quick, fun, and super spicy read! It did feel a bit of insta lovey for me, with not much build up to them basically being inseparable. Essie and Nate definitely had smoking hot bed chem, but I would have liked to see more of them together outside of the spice.
I listened to the audiobook, and loved the dual POV and narration! I also really enjoyed the group of found family in this novel, and I will definitely read more of the books in this series!

I knew Essie was going to be a powerhouse and wow did she deliver! I loved the grudge between Essie and Nate and the way they banter.
This book is like the merging of a few different series in a special gathering. I loved getting to see characters I love from other books but the focus was still very clearly on Essie and Nate. I really loved the insertion of little quips that felt like inside jokes between friends.

Ahh I love all the characters and all the things and yes! It was so great that this book was Tristan and Rix’s wedding. We got to see all our favorite past main characters including Kodiak and Lavender as well as previous amazing side characters like Hemi’s brothers. We’ve been watching Essie and Nate watch each other throughout the Terror books and it was just as explosive to watch them finally come together as you might’ve hoped. As usually reading one of Helena’s books makes me want to go back and reread them all.
