Such a sweet (and spicy) story. Helena is a master of pulling you into the relationship so you feel it right along with the characters. Loved Essie’s story.
Side note: I’ve adored this series and the Toronto Terror series, but the overuse of “creative” names drives me absolutely bonkers. I just wish 90% of the characters didn’t have off the wall names.

I don't know why I finished this because I didn't particularly care for the characters or the storyline. I also found the characterization of Essie's love all things pink and femme as a love of fairy tales as weird and false. There's nothing wrong with her love of all things pink and girly and femme, her apartment actually sounded dreamy, but reading fairy tales beyond a first grade level reveals them to be dark warnings.

Tropes:
👑 Grumpy x Sunshine
🌧️ Second Chance
👑 Hurt/Comfort
🌧️ Best Man x Maid of Honor
👑 Opposites Attract
I loved this book! It’s such a heartfelt journey especially for Nate, who’s spent his life bracing for people to leave. Watching him struggle with vulnerability and push away something as real and natural as what he shares with Ess? Gut-wrenching. 🥺 Essie is the ultimate fairytale romantic soft, hopeful, and just wanting to be seen for more than her looks. She and Nate have a small but meaningful history, and being thrown together at a wedding? Let’s just say emotions run high. It’s sweet, a little messy, and unexpectedly healing. 💕 But the way Essie and Nate have a "messy" start and what breaks my heart is that Nate feels like he doesn't know how to love but he does in his own way but i loved this story and the way they both are right for each other in the way they he is darkness and she is sunshine for him
"I have no faith in love. No faith that it can endure, because in my experience, it doesn’t."

It was light and quick. I enjoyed it but it wasn’t my favorite of her books.

I Could Be Yours is a standalone book, but heavily features characters from the Toronto Terror books and a few characters from the younger gen book Chase Lovett Wants Me. I would recommend that you read the other books in the series since they are a really tight knit group and getting to know the other character relationships would add to this story.
Nate is the brother of Tristan (hockey mmc in Toronto Terror book) and follows him as he helps coordinate wedding activities as the best man with the help Essie the maid of honor and best friend to Rix. They have history, an unforgettable kiss years , but after having to spend so much time together to get their best friends married the tension is too much and with a end date looming Essie thinks a prince isn’t what she needs to cum to her senses 😈
I’m really excited for the next books in the series and how the series’ will merge Tally and Flip 👀 I need to go and read the other terror books before then though!
Thank you to Helena Hunting for the arc in exchange for an honest review!
