Although I don't think I've executed the book's guidelines to completion or perfection, I do think that I have decluttered, cleansed, and tidied up my life. Reading this book, I felt a little self conscious knowing that I was breaking so many small "rules" but I also remembered that sometimes you just need to do your best, and be fully proud and accepting of what you can do, instead of guilty for what you didn't do. At this point, I have reduced and stored my belongings, but I haven't re inserted joy. My wall art is still in the closet and we have no plants. The books are not quite on the bookcase, and things are certainly missing. I am so close to having a space that really sparks joy!

Marie Kondo elevates the mundane necessity to be tidy and organized into a thoughtful philosophy of living and interacting with the most important environment you have: your home. If "home is where the heart is" KonMari is bringing you back in touch with the soul of your home and possessions and giving you the opportunity to truly enjoy interacting with everything you own. My small family began its journey toward downsizing and living a more simple, minimal life over a a year ago, but all of the good work of tidying I undertook was just the beginning. We are in the midst of our second pass through everything and applying more of the KonMari method and it really does make all the difference. I am easily stressed by spaces in disarray and often tell my husband how much I love the lighter more relaxed feeling in the air after I have cleaned and tidied the house. I am very aware of environmental changes and all of the ones we have made have been a blessing. Getting out Tupperware isn't a hassle anymore, easily accessing. Everyday tools in the kitchen is easy and sparks no annoyance or frustration. Tonight after dinner, the dinner mess was spread out around the kitchen counters and I told my husband I felt so calm in the kitchen space that the dinner mess wasn't even stressing me. Our home feels more like home because we are working with the home and our possessions to create the environment that works for us. It is wonderful. I cannot recommend KonMari enough.

Good refresher but unfortunately a bit of a snooze fest.

I've read the first book and didn't see the need to read this one but a few people recommended it so I did. And I'm glad I did. I've been through my clothes and books but that's as far as I got the first time. Now I'm ready to take a fresh look at everything again. And I'll give myself more time to get through it.

I loved the first book so I loved this one too. She goes into to greater detail about how to practice the art of simplifying and tidying up our lives. I really want to help people take up this practice and wish I could go somewhere to get certified .

A nice companion to The Magic of Tidying Up. The ideas aren't new if you've already read her first book, but I appreciated the diagrams for folding and the detailed instructions for tidying.

Overall this book provided much better explanation of the tidying methods described in the first book. Moreover, I really liked how there are also some tips for miscellaneous items you like, as well as tips for including your family. I also liked it way better how KonMari still leaves the disicions up to you, after all, it is you who should be happy with your living space. I can definately recommend this book for those who are struggling with their living space and lifestyle.

I read The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up many years ago and I feel like a totally different person reading this book. I loved the first and used it well. But I felt like I really understand her energetic references this time. I would like more joy in my life and this is a wonderful reminder of how I can make that happen - or more correctly how I can appreciate the joy already in my life.
Wonderful book, would recommend.
