Usually when I read a series, by the second or third book, I need to take a break and read something else. Not Cody McFadyen's books. There is only one other author I've found that has fresh, thrilling plots, relatable and really enjoyable characters, and such an amazing way with words, and that was Andrew Mayne. I cannot recommend these books highly enough.
Another great read in the Smoky Barrett series. A different king of monster this time. The whole team is involved & a little more deepening of the relationship with Tommy, Smoky, & Bonnie. Also changes coming in the FBI teams & funding. These books are very well written by Cody. He does a fantastic job with his lead female character & sub characters. Can't wait to read the next in the series "The Truth Factory"
The start is in slow motion, then the pace picks up. I read the first two chapters in two days (ok maybe the first 4), then I could not put it down.
I read this book in English because kobo does not have the translated version in Italian (not bad, I can read a whole book in English without having problems) and I must say that I like the style of the author. Of course, even in Italian it is his style but being translated, I do not know how much structure the translator changes, so reading a book in English has been different for once.

Weer een geweldig verhaal, dat soms toch echt wel schokkend is. Hoe blijf je zo'n dingen verzinnen vraag ik me dan af? Is de mens echt zo duister?
Story wise, this book is a 5, really enjoyable. Completely insane and deranged but if you like that in serial killers, then completely enjoyable. However it also had every single one of my triggers. EVERY one. So, that bugged the shit out of me. I only have 3 or 4 and they were all there, so I didn't love parts of this book at all.
Memorable, a bit thought-provoking, but at the same time somewhat tedious. Would I read more in this series? Probably not.
I love this series so much so hard to put down such a quick read and I just love the characters. Really looking forward to the next one.
