Absolutely cringe-worthy thriller. I don't know how this author does it, but he manages to curl my toes more and more with each novel. Another case for Smokey and her cracklin FBI team of serial killer profilers.
This one takes us where no one should ever have to go even reading it, will make you squirm guaranteed.
It all begins when a woman is thrown from a car at a wedding where there are cops and FBI agents in attendance. The woman is screaming and ghostly white. Where did she come from? What has happend to her? Why was she dumped there? These are leads that begin the trail of one of the creepiest serial-killer I've ever read.
Highly, highly, recommend this book. But do read the others prior to this one because there is wonderful character building going on here as well. Great, crisp, writing!

Had me completely hooked and reminiscent of silence of the lambs! Gove me more!
Ridiculous. Absurdly goulish. The alternating present/past thing was cool - but didn't seem to carry through. The Smoky character was confusing and trite - she's tough, she's vulnerable, she's a woman who is acting in a man's role..i don't know...i didn't get it. and the constant, irrelevant references to amazing sex. These people were all having sex all the time. Cut those references out and the book would have been half as long. And the oh-so-perfect-hunky boyfriend for Smoky. Irritating stereotyped character whose inclusion did nothing to drive the story forward. The 'thriller' part itself - well we know who did it and why up front - and not much mystery. Just too long, uninteresting, not worth the time.
Cody McFadyen may very well be one of my new favorite authors. This series definitely ranks in the top 5 of my faves now. I feel like this series has it all. I don't know how I will be able to wait for the next one.
I absolutely loved this book. Cody McFadyen has a new fan in me!
I thought it was going to be just "another FBI profiler" story, but I loved his style. I will absolutely read more from McFadyen in the future.

This was awesome - the premise was honestly creepy and for the first time in this series I got the creeps everyone else seems to get. Not the guts and gore but the terror of knowing you are losing your grip on reality, on your sanity.
This was well done - Alan continues to threaten to retire bit otherwise everyone had some meaningful character development. Leo came back amd I was overjoyed about this until I was distraught about it. Callie marries and gets back to her job before her reception. James shows hints of having other relationships -'Young Jim' cracked me up- and potentially caring about others beneath his carefully built barricade. Smoky and Tommy are too good together, Bonnie showed some signs of dealing with her psychological trauma on a terrible way FINALLY and AD Jones got a much needed depth to him.
The plot was good, page turner as always. The psychology of this one was much better because we got glimpses behind the mask of the suspect from the start which really showed how versatile McFayden can be with the way he sets up his novels.
The actual business plan they end up uncovering was horrifying and truly one of the worst made up crimes I've ever had the pleasure of reading about.
