So good

It’s hard to describe this book in any way other than it being a stream of consciousness that does better to describe learning to tackle life than any other instruction. It took a little while to kick off for me but was a good overall read. More 3.5 than 3 stars.

A worthy read for my "Read a book from each of the 32 counties in Ireland" (Kildare).  The characters are well written, complex enough, and witty. There are at least three layers to the story, and the story surprises and turns into something else at least twice. Big mysteries aren't fully answered, so if that's something you need in a book.. this may not be for you.  It's an engaging and fast read. I really enjoyed this world and the tricks the author uses to invite us into it.

This was WAY better than I expected. Not a run of the mill campus novel at all. Great writer.

This was really good. The characters flaws were explored in a beautiful way and the complexity of friendships and familial relationships was portrayed excellently. Particularly enjoyed the conversations had between the characters, they felt very real. It would make a good tv drama, I could really picture how the scenes would play out. Reading the authors note that this is inspired by her own experiences really made sense because although it’s a coming of age story it still felt very unique.
