Okay okay, THIS is the kind of shallow, lighthearted, spicy easy read I enjoy.
There's not a lot in this book if I'm honest. Everything happens over the course of 72 hours. Literally these two idiots fall in love with each other in less than a week. Right after she catches her ex-fiancé cheating on her 10 minutes before she walks down the aisle to marry him.
But before I get into the absolute nothing (and sometimes batshit stupid things) that happened in this book, let me talk about what I DID enjoy.
I LOVED the brothers. All of them. I love the family dynamics and the fact that even when they're beating the absolute hell out of each other, there's a deep sense of comradery and love between them. I love that even though there's like 47 of them, they all have unique personalities and interesting backstories. You can almost SEE what their books are going to be like. I wish we'd have gotten a little more into the family dynamics honestly. I really wish we'd gotten to see Dru become part of their tribe more. The moment they got between her and Michael just *chef's kiss*. I needed way more of that.
Dru was fun and feisty. She's a blackbelt and shows it and that's awesome. She's also not afraid of being dominant in bed--I love that for her. I love that we finally get to see a woman owning her sexuality in these stupid spicy nothing sort of books. Growly men are great. Growly men being tied up and edged to the point of insanity by a freak who knows what she's doing--even better.
Sebastian isn't my FAVORITE MMC ever, but he wasn't bad at all. He's just the right amount of grumpy asshole with a heart of gold to get the job done, I think. But I don't think he'll end up being my favorite of the brothers (if I ever get around to reading all of their stories).
Now for the stuff I wasn't keen on:
1. The cussing. There's a LOT of it. Almost to the point where it feels forced and unnatural. I've been known to throw my fair share of expletives around, and even I was side-eyeing some of what I was reading.
2. The slut-shaming. Obviously, Dru has good reason to be angry at Tawny for fucking her fiancé. But the way she goes on and on about how much of a whore she is and how she badmouths her NAME was just overkill. Not cool. Especially when we've got an MMC who's simultaneously bragging (in his internal monologue, at least) about how many women he's screwed and how he likes it that way. It just left a foul taste in my mouth.
3. There's virtually no interaction with side characters outside of Sebastian's brothers (who all sort of just make their introductions so you get an image of who they're gonna be in THEIR books). There's zero plot. No traveling, no massive drama. Once Dru and Sebastian set eyes on each other, it's just fucking and occasionally eating and then meeting the brothers 1 by 1. There's literally nothing else going on at all ever at any point in the book.
3-a. Unless you count the "closure" scene between Dru's ex-fiancé and herself. Which honestly was the most insane part of this whole story. Let me give you a play by play:
1. Michael shows up in Alaska looking for Dru, with the intent to win her back.
2. He admits that the relationship was boring, and that he wasn't happy with her, that he didn't ever love her, but that he was gonna marry her "in case things changed".
3. He admits he's been fucking Tawny behind her back for TWO WHOLE YEARS and has no remorse nor had he any intention of stopping the affair.
4. He admits that he viewed Dru as the "other woman" and that Tawny was really the one who got him, even though he'd proposed and was going to marry Dru. 🤨😠
5. He admits that after Dru caught him boning Tawny not 10 minutes before they were meant to be wed and left, that he just went ahead and married Tawny because "all his family was there and so was the preacher and she was fine with it."
6. He left his HONEYMOON in Hawaii with Tawny to come to Alaska and I don't even know what. At the end of the conversation, he just admits that he hated how Dru found out, but that whatever situation he's in currently "works for him".
Dude, you could have sent that shit over a text message. I'm glad Dru punched him in the face, though.
4. I feel like there was room to expand and add depth to this book. Dru's mother leaving when she was a kid has clearly left her with some kind of trauma. That could have been explored. The situation with the brothers and Sebastian having to deal with their dad's death also had room for exploration--and we get none of it.
I have a feeling the will and the fact that all the brothers are being forced to stay and help with the bar for a year will be a throughline that ties this series together. Still. There needed to be more groundwork done in book one to keep the book from feeling like a giant smutty nothing burger.
5. Dru and Sebastian marry only 4 MONTHS after they meet. Do I need to say more about this?
Look, I have no idea why I'm not screaming into the void about having read the stupidest thing ever to be written. Some of these absolutely shallow, plotless books just do>/i> it for me, and some of them don't. This one had enough charm, the characters had enough wit and personality, that I didn't feel like I was wasting my time.
Was this book good? Objectively, no. Absolutely not. But was I entertained? Yeah... yeah I kinda was. Sue me.

Fun story. It was a good first novel to the series because it introduces all the brothers. Just a couple of nitpicky things. First, she's so desperate to leave, she jumps on front of a plane to get it to stop it and get on it. The second is the book ends very abruptly. It ties it all up, but blink and you miss it.
2.75 stars. A little too fast paced for my taste, a bit Mary-Sue for the main character, but an easy read. Nice to read for free on iBooks.
This was an entertaining read, if a little unrealistic. It was also a bit insta-love, but not unbearably so. :-) Dru was supposed to get married. Instead of getting married, after finding her fiance fucking one of her bridesmaids just before the wedding, she got plowed, waved down a plane bound for Alaska and got on board. She knew nobody in Alaska, but she stumbled upon Badd's, a local bar, and met Sebastian. She proceeded to get wasted *again*, and when she tried to leave, Bast picked her up from the rain, brought her upstairs to the apartment, helped her undress (trying so hard to be a gentleman) to get her into the shower to warm up, and then (barely) turning her down when she threw herself at him.
The next morning, Bast's SEAL brother has shown up. When they start fighting, Dru inserts herself to break it up and ends up taking Zane down, which is unusual since he's a SEAL. Turns out, all of Bast's brothers are due to show up soon due to a requirement of their father's will, so there are a LOT of characters introduced. And, I must say, their descriptions make me want to visit Alaska to see if there really is a family with eight incredible looking boys, lol. Anyway, there are some unresolved issues between all the boys, so there's lots of fighting between them, but throughout is the story of Dru and Bast sort of each letting down their guard to become a great couple.
When Dru's former fiance showed up, my jaw was kinda dropped throughout his entire "explanation". What was the fucking point? Other than her getting closure, it almost seemed like he showed up specifically to hurt her with his words. No remorse. About any of the fucked up shit he'd done. The one saving grace is that other than confusion, Dru felt nothing for him. Plus she had a much better guy in the wings providing much-needed support.
Like I said, it was a little insta-love-y. They got really close really fast, but it was still an enjoyable, sexy story. I'll continue with the series, especially since we got a sneak peek of what Zane's story will be about. No strings... suuuuuure. :-)

*SPOILER ALERT*

Hot!!!!!
I am hooked! The Badd Brothers are hot and so are the stories! Definitely a must read! I have recommended them to several ppl!

Emotionally stunted hero who takes a while to get his head together. Awesome kick butt heroine with a jerkface ex. Not a bad story. Minus several points for suggesting that CFL football isn't professional football. Meh. Typical Yankee hubris.
Wow. I did not like this at all. It had all the potential in the world and instead of taking it and making something awesome and amazing, it turned into a smut-arrific waste of what could have been solid characters by turning them into ridiculous (and yes, cliche at times), pathetic examples of men.
I loved the beginning
But then it fell apart. There was so much to build on, so much to make this guy and his brothers...just amazing, but of course they're all "gorgeous" and built and have amazing lives and blah blah blah.
The only good moment was maybe
I don't know why we went with emotionally stunted man-slut instead of steady guy who took care of family and knows how to treat a lady. That shit with Dru...no way dude.
And the drama with the fiance--over the top.
The language, and I was a soldiers, but dear lord, someone teach these guys some vocabulary.
This was just sex and swearing and fighting. If that's your jam, go right ahead, but this was just a waste for me. I have read this author before so I would like to hope that maybe this book just was...off for me, and maybe the rest of the brothers' books will be awesomesauce, but I'm hesitant, because I don't know if I could take being that disappointed given the absolute perfect set ups we were given for these guys. and given how this book ended, i'm not super hopeful of something with emotional depth. but, most of the people that read this gave it 4-5 stars, so maybe I'm just getting old or not in the right frame of mind...i don't know.

not the fiance fucking the slut while he friends stand around and watch, but loved that Dru was like I gotta go and she hops on a plane and leaves and when we first met Sebastian, I liked him. His behavior with Dru that first night--he was perfect!!But then it fell apart. 3.5⭐️ Cute- full of lust romance where the female lead is finding herself again.
Dru found her fiancée cheating right before walking down the aisle. She flees to start over some where new and lands in Alaska.
The romance was a whirlwind that we didn’t even get to see. We only see Dru and Sebastian as full of lust and starting to feel more. It’s super spicy and has lots of dirty talk
