I thought this book was amazing. It really grasped all the creative characters in this story. I read it twice and loved it even more the second time around.
If I hadn't seen Stranger Things, Elfen Lied and so many other movies/shows with the same topic, I might have been surprised by the obvious plot twist. I'll give him credit for writing it in 1985 though.
At one point Koontz says to his reader (through the protagonist), "'The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them.' Mark Twain said that".
This tells you all you need to know about what Koontz thinks of his audience. But if you like being strapped into the literary equivalent of a ball-kicking machine, have at it.
And just to set the record straight, Twain never said those words. What I wouldn't give to read his takedown of this trash.
And another thing!: "Call me Marge"?!! Get the fuck outta here, you hack!
I guess the one good thing I can say is that reading shit books like this helps you better understand what makes for a good book--or even a minimally competent one.

Well DNF. I just can’t listen to it any more! I am 86% done and I just don’t care. I hate that it turned super natural and they a child is harmed in it all. So dumb.
