Holy angst!!! I love me some angst and this book did not fail to deliver! Although I will say that overall I feel a bit conflicted and I can’t tell if I loved it or hated it. I liked that we got to see Zane and Celeste fall in love for the first time and the events that led up to them breaking up, but it just felt way too long to me. There were parts in the second half of the book that felt unnecessary, and I feel like a lot of it could’ve been condensed/taken out entirely.
I don’t know if I just missed it or if it’s mentioned in another book in the series (this is the first book I’ve read in the Windsor series), but why exactly do their grandparents hate each other so much? All that’s ever said is that they have some deep rooted resentment towards each other but it’s never explicitly stated what went down to cause it. And then all of a sudden they decided to look past all that hatred to arrange a marriage??? Makes no sense to me.
Also just so we’re clear- women don’t grovel!! Sorry that’s a thing strictly for men!

The author, Catharina Maura, has stated that this was one of the hardest books for her to write. I will say it was one of the hardest books in the series for me to read as well but not for what you would think. This book brought so many emotions for me. I was dying to finish the book so that I could know how it ended but at the same time I didn’t want it to end at all so I kept trying to delay reading it so that I wouldn’t have to leave this world of the characters she wrote. Honestly if I could give this book 10 stars I would.
Not every story is a fairytale, some are about tragic love. The Broken Vows was not my favorite book in the series. Probably because to me it felt not to far from reality. Maybe it hits too close to home because I have been in situations like this intimately. I understand the situation a little too well. In a situation like theirs, one keeps wondering who was at fault. The answer is nobody. No one can be completely blamed for these types of situations. Lily did play a major part in it though. Many might blame Celeste but I understand her perspective. It was her best friend who died. She had lost two of her closet people in a flash. She just chose to believe her deceased bestfriend. Things that she did weren't justifiable but she was in bewildering situation.
I liked the beginning of the story but then I found it hard to read through the book. It felt like the chapters were repetitive and their constant arguing was tedious. The miscommunication pissed me off. I am not a big fan of heartache and pain in books. I like my books to be a little lighter. Catharina Maura is one of my favourite authors but this book just wasn't the one for me. I still love the windsor clan to death and I am too excited for Lexington book.
My heart breaks for Celeste and Zane. Everything that they faced and all the hardships they had.
Their love story wasn't perfect but it was theirs. And I am glad that they could work through their problems and find happiness together.

It’s really lusty from the beginning and I couldn’t feel any connection between them
Loved this story!
I really enjoyed this story! I loved getting to see their past and present and how they worked to strengthen their relationship.

This was such a heart breaking read, so many moments in it that brought me close to tears and a few that did manage to!
Zane and Celeste were so good together, until it all went wrong! I could understand how difficult it was for them to trust each other again, and at times I did wonder if they would be able to move on from the past.

I loved this, the pain and heartbreak was all so real that I didn’t think the ending could fix it. I wished it was shorter and longer all at the same time. This was the most beautiful story.
But above all, Celeste, I vow to be yours, forever and always.
Omg it was perfect! Can't wait for Lex & Raya book <3
