Split Second

David Baldacci

3.78 AVERAGE

Such a tease! I really enjoyed meeting King and Maxwell in this book and even though I hated the follow up to it, I will probably pick up some of the subsequent books featuring these characters.

'Then again, with the way his luck was running, if he opened the door, Michelle might just shoot him in the balls'. With lines like these spread throughout the novel, Baldacci certainly doesn't come off as the Shakespeare but the plot is such that even if Stephanie Mayer would've written it, i would've read it all the way.

Split second is a roller coaster ride that keeps getting better till the end. An ex-Secret service agent teams up with another agent to discover the kidnapper behind a presendiatial candidate. Right from the very first page Baldacci keeps you guessing, too many loose ends, who is the killer, who is the buick man?
While this makes for and excellent build up for the ending, the revelation of the killer. But this is where Baldacci fails in tying those loose ends and in the end its a bittersweet end, at least for me, as i was expecting the ending that is in the likes of Agatha Christie novels.
Nevertheless, split second won't leave you wanting, and like a Bollywood masala, every chapter brings a new twist to the story.

Super confusing ending and very corny

The first in the series of the King and Maxwell books. I inadvertently read the sixth book so I am backtracking to read the rest in order. The author introduces the reader to the two protagonists of this series, Sean King and Michelle Maxwell, both with background training in the Secret Service. I thought the pairing of this duo was creative and the story was well written full of suspense, intense moments and entertaining.
medium-paced

This was a pretty good thriller until the end when the ridiculous stage show ruined a decent book.

Excellent book!!!
