I watched the show, loved it, and thought wow I wonder how different the book is...
It's like a completely different story. I don't even know how Netflix went "yeah this is close enough" because it's really not. The plot had some similar moments, but overall, it was completely different. Also, all the Walters are blonde? What?!
Personally, I liked aspects of the show more, but I did think the book made more sense than the show, and I did really enjoy it!
The writing was so easy to read that I blasted through it in just over 24 hours. It didn't even feel like effort
The characters were a lot more well-rounded as well. Cole, especially. And Isaac and Lee. And even Parker!
Overall, I'd highly recommend people read this even if they've seen the show, just for the experience at least

I really enjoyed this novel. It was a nice break from more serious tomes and I enjoyed the Walter family dynamics. This is definitely a romance novel but it had more meat to it.
Personally I related to Jackie a lot. I mean I grew up in a small Midwest town but personality wise I related to her. It was fun seeing her thrown in the chaos of the Walter family. So many personalities under one roof! I don't know if I have a favorite Walter boy as I liked almost all of them. The cousins were my least favorite but then you learn their backstory and it makes sense why they're jerks.
The novel kept me interested and though it felt a little cheesy at times (kissing in the rain cheesy), it was still a fun book. I think I'd even read the sequel to see what happens to the Walter family and Jackie. I'd definitely recommend it for a fun read!

I actually watched the first season for the show and feel hard for Cole, and I love Jackie. I couldn’t put this book down cause I got the Cole effect while reading this book 😂. The story really goes into Jackie’s family and I thought it was nice and sad at the same time. I couldn’t believe in the book she has a class with Cole. Also the party seriously spin the bottle and I love how she just kisses Cole right in front of Erin. This book also showed how Jackie and Cole are very similar due to their lost of family and football they don’t know who they are without them. Also when Jackie went to the other party with Cole and just let him do whatever with her there shows he does like her. Then at the end of the book when Cole goes after her real quick before she makes it to the airport and it is raining and she gets out of the car and ends up kissing him in the rain.
I honestly really enjoyed this book. It wasn’t perfect. But I couldn’t put it down.
Also, does anyone know if there’s a sequel I need moreeee.

Liked it better when I read it at 13. But still a good read especially with comparing it to the new Netflix series!
