No spoilers: If you want a feel good, light hearted but emotional at the same time, strangely addicting story, then definitely read My Life With the Walter Boys. Is it the deepest read ever? No. Was it sweet and endearing? Yes. Was there hidden depths to any of the characters? Not really.

But I still couldn’t put it down. It hooked me and I’m still up at 6am writing this review because I had to finish it. Jackie loses her entire family and has to move to Colorado with a woman she’s met all of one time, and of course she has 12 kids. And of course all the older ones are completely gorgeous and have rock hard abs, because guilty pleasures? I am a little disappointed that there wasn’t more story line devoted to her friends or even some of the other secondary characters, but I did enjoy all the different personalities of the Walter boys + Parker.

What follows is an entertaining story about Jackie learning that maybe her checklists and strait laced plan for her future isn’t what she really wants, if she can find it in herself to learn to love.

This was a really good book and really entertaining. I had read the show before reading the book, and it was very good. They are very similar, and it was nice to be able to have a face for the characters. The chapters were quite long so it was hard to read more than one in a sitting, will continue to read this series.
