What I Liked:
1. The Walter Family - in general the Walter family seemed really nice and supportive of one another. I love that they took Jackie in and tried hard to make her feel at home.
2. Jackie helping with the wedding - I realize this is a really small part of the story, but I think this was nice to see. I think this was the part of the story where we really got to see Jackie as an individual and not tied to one of those boys. She’s detail oriented, smart, and incredibly capable and was able to get everything for the wedding done even though she barely knows them.
3. The moments with Nate and Danny - I liked that Jackie had some interactions with the Walter family that weren’t directly tied to romantic interest. It helped build her integration into the family a bit. Besides it’d be weird if the entire family was trying to get with her.
What I Didn’t Like:
1. Love triangle - Cole and Alex basically just used Jackie to get revenge on each other. To be honest, it was a shitty thing for both of them to do, especially knowing that Jackie is brand new to town AND in a really vulnerable place. HELLO?! Her whole family just died, and they’re too preoccupied trying to one up each other?!

I honestly think I preferred the tv show for how the characters feel rounded and the situation is dramatised.

I first read this book when it was still being written on Wattpad. I haven't read the published copy in quite some time but found I still enjoyed this book all these years later. I loved the contrast of all the different characters and the familial love for one another despite how different they all are. I wish there was a sequel that gives us more of a glimpse into what happens after.
