This was by no means a good book in terms of plot or writing style but it was very easy to listen to as an audiobook and have on in the background- I'm not sure how I would have felt about it if I'd read it instead. Although it differed a bit from the tv show I think they both capture what happens in the same way, if anything the show makes some of the characters more likeable and adds in some side plots which didn't feel like they were missing.
I'd compare this to The Summer I Turned Pretty although it was hard at times to tell who the audience is supposed to be for it. It's cheesy and cringe-y but pretty much what I expected from the book. The ending felt rushed and a bit abrupt but overall it was an easy listen.

This was okay. Jackie annoyed me at times, some choice Walter’s annoyed me. I watched the show before reading the book and I liked seeing the scenes they pulled (or pulled inspiration) from. Probably won’t read the sequel though, I’ll just stick to the show.

Was the show some of the worst acting ever? Potentially. Was the book more or less your basic young adult romance? Yes. But I eat it up all the same. Team Cole forever.
