Imagine your leveled up Wastelander from Vault 101 had his/her own running narrative and instead of annoying Moira at your birthday party everyone sat down and watched Road Warrior and Thunderdome on repeat. That's this novel.

It's a quick, fun read taking all your favorite bits of the nuclear apocalypse and slamming them together in what just begs to be a film starring Jesse Eisenberg (or maybe Jay Baruchel?) as Jerry and Ray Stevenson as Logan. Throw in a bit of Michael Hogan (BSG's Col. Tigh) as The Major and you've got my $12 and purchase of the blu-ray.

I will start by saying I enjoyed this book. It was fun, quick, humourous.

I will follow that up by saying that it felt like it was written in the 50s. There's not many characters, but grand total of 2 women and they're both damsels in distress, one not very clever and one downright an a**ehole.

It's clearly based on Westerns, just based in modern post-apocalyptic times.

I got set of 3 book from the series from Audible, so will carry on listening as I did enjoy them. I'll just be prepared to roll my eyes a lot.

The name and cover art should tell you all you need to know about this book. It's a comedy about Post-Apocalyptic America. I wasn't sure how I'd like the book since "funny" is so subjective but it turns out I like it pretty well. This book has it all. Car chases. Romance. Shoot outs. Even a would-be hero that tries to dive behind a wall to save himself from a bullet and ends up diving INTO the wall and busting his head open. You should know that when one of the dangers of the wild is "Super Smart Bears" you are in for a good time.

I'll be reading future books from Mr. Wallace. And if you like a little bit of cheese with your humor, I think you should too.

P.S. For effect, have a copy of Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire available to listen to during a particular part of this book. It'll bring a smile. I assure you.

This book sets out to be a fun, unique take on the dystopian future genre, and more or less succeeds. It's definitely fast-moving with no time to get bored, and the story and characters have a few surprises in store to keep things interesting too. It's certainly not aiming to say anything too deep or profound, and is not always as funny as it might hope to be, but I didn't mind it. Some of the scenes, such as the plant zombies in Dallas, and the bad guy soldiers on the armoured truck, are quite horrific, but in the end the good guys win (that's not really a spoiler, as you can see it coming from several miles off) and it's not a bad read.

I almost quit reading this book several times along the way. Partly because none of the characters was very likable and partly because the too-frequent misspellings and really awkward prose turned me off. A couple of interesting ideas that could have been improved a lot by some professional editing.

Post-Apocalyptic Nomadic Warriors is a funny take on the post-apocalyptic genre. There’s a good story and while it develops, Wallace entertains us with a satiric take on our own world through the post-apocalyptic lens. This is dry humor, ala Monty Python or Douglas Adams; lots of great banter and understatement. The hero, Jerry the Librarian, is unassuming but resourceful enough to ply his trade among the huddling survivors. Story 4, Craft 5, Humor 4.

Excellent Apoc/dystopian tale with a bit of humor sprinkled lightly. I highly recommend it.

This book was a freaking riot. It follows Jerry, a so called post-apocalyptic nomadic warrior, and his dog, Chewy, on his wasteland adventures in Texas. From Super Smart Bears (or SSBs) to a psychotic general riding around in a big rig to plant people....it made me laugh. It also made me want to read more of his books.
