Did not read. Will not read. Happy to discuss why you should not read it, either.

it would've been a good start to a good book but if Cassandra put it there with Clary's POV, it would've been a mess. it's better off this way that it's an outtake. but still, I still give this one a thumbs-up.

hashtag magnus problems.

but seriously, I feel sorry for Magnus because people leave him behind and it's inevitable. it sucks that I could only find snippets though.

YOU CANNOT DENY THE FACT THAT THIS--THIS ENCHANTING PIECE OF WRITING RIGHT HERE--IS THE EPITOME OF PERFECTION. ANYONE ELSE WHO DISAGREES PROBABLY SMELLS BAD.

I hated the twist but I dearly love this series so much.

So good, so very very good! My favorite book in the series so far! It was a surprisingly fast read when I was finally able to just sit down and read. It was such a satisfying ending as well and I can't wait until I get my hands on the next one!

3.5 stars. I enjoyed this book, so far, more than the others. It was the ending that did it lol

Probably my favorite in the mortal instruments series!

Clare: Hmmm... how should I continue my Mortal Plagiarism series?

Me: Some more exploration of the world you created? Some more original elements to distinguish your work? Plot progression? Meaningful character developement for characters not Clary or Jace anyone? Maybe even some actual demon hunting?

Clare: No one wants that, we want
PSEUDO
INCEST DRAMA

Me: Ew no wtf? Hoe don't do it

Clare: *chanting* *pounding fists on the table* INCEST DRAMA, INCEST DRAMA, INCEST DRAMA!!!

Clare: Also I'll add 100000000000000000000 times more Jace angst

Me: Oh my God

While I read this book deep in my Y.A. phase back at 16, when I also devoured literature like anything without being all too critical, I remember still being disappointed. I remember getting to the last page of the book, and still having the feeling that it is going to pick up, reach some sort of peak. It never did, and I don't know if it's the pacing or the writing itself or if the series picks up later, since I didn't pick up the next one. But it was a very flat read.

This is my second attempt reading this book, and it was a lot easier than last time. I started reading this book after a friend recommended it to me. In my first reading, the writing felt too much like how a fanfiction would be written. It turned me off so I really found it hard to get even halfway done. This time, it didn't seem so apparent and I finally managed to finish it.

While reading this book, I heard that Cassandra Clare had written a Harry Potter fanfiction that had a similar concept with this book prior to publication. Naturally, I just found myself comparing the characters in this book to Harry Potter characters. I'm not going to say which characters are which, but if you're familiar with the Harry Potter series it's probably clear though some are a mix of characters. The plots are pretty similar too. Bad guy creates a cult-like group in order to eradicate the world of those whose blood isn't pure. Sounds like an event that happened in history too, but Harry Potter is probably based on it too.

The writing wasn't too bad, but it did get a little tiring after a while. I really liked the writing in the chapter where Luke tells his story better and I wish Cassandra Clare wrote the book more similar to that style. She also tends to add unnecessary descriptions sometimes and it would catch me off guard and ruin the flow of the story. I liked most of the characters. Clary started to get annoying after a while though. But I really did not like Jace. I wanted to just punch him in the face for most of the story. He was just too sarcastic and arrogant and seemed like he was trying too hard to seem aloof. I hope he changes in the later books because if not, we'll have to meet in an alleyway and square off. I don't even care that he's a Shadowhunter and would be able to beat me up in a heartbeat.

All in all, the book wasn't too bad. It was enough to make me want to read the rest of the series, plus I'm looking forward to Magnus and Alec and Raphael.
