"you have been my friend," replied Charlotte, "that in itself is a tremendous thing."

Charlotte is not a hero.

I read this aloud to my six year old son and he loved it. He was always wanting to read more. What a great first children's book!

There are bits of this book that don't sit well with me, mainly the fact that poor Charlotte does all the work and Wilbur takes all the credit (and don't get me started on Fern abandoning her animal friends to chase after boys at the age of EIGHT), but overall it is a lovely tale of friendship and the circle of life, and totally heartbreaking.

Reading this as an adult just hits differently, I can not wait to read it to my son when he is a bit older! It it filled with innocence and honesty and so many lessons about kindness and love and being able to move forward after loss. This will forever be a tale that lives in my heart
