I'll admit, Nicholas Sparks is a guilty pleasure of mine. Rather than compare his books with all the other books I read, I compared them with each other. This one was really enjoyable though I found it difficult to relate to the characters, most likely due you the fact that I'm only 21. I expect a degree of predictability while reading Sparks' books, however I think The Best of Me was a little too predictable. That being said, I still give it four stars for drawing me in and making me not want to put it down

Are there any books by this author that end with a happily ever after? Any at all? This is the third one I have read and they are so depressing. The ending was a little too Days of Our Lives for me.

Cheesy and pretty unbelievable, like most Nicholas Sparks novels (although I keep coming back to them when I need a book that requires no brain power). I found myself skimming the last few chapters. Just couldn't take it anymore.
