4+. Second book of his I've read and I am hooked. Just the right combination of heart , sarcasm, life and wise ass(ness?).
There is something about Jonathan Tropper's writing that intrigues me. I enjoyed this book even though parts felt a bit too rom-com.
Tropper knows his strengths and plays to them in every novel. Of all the Tropper I've read (five now), though, Everything Changes is probably my least favorite. It had the definite feel of a three-star for the entire first half and maybe longer. Solid effort--but didn't stack up with his other novels.
Boy, did he finish strong.
The payoff of Everything Changes makes the mediocre early read well worth it. As usual, his characters are dead-on, his narration is strong, and his dialogue is usually even stronger. But the ending gave me less of the predictability I guess I've come to expect somewhat from Tropper. That's not to say he writes predictable endings (the ending to the wonderful How to Talk to a Widower was a thing of beauty), but I enjoyed this finish much more than I was prepared for.
Bottom line, even when Tropper doesn't knock a homer, he's still mighty to his power alleys. I've yet to be disappointed, and that's puts him above the fray.

After really enjoying 'how to talk to a widower' I was looking forward to reading another book by Jonathon Tropper.
I wasn't disappointed, although I felt it wasn't as good as how to talk to a widower. I did find myself laughing out load at points throughout the book, as well as have a tear brought to the eye.
Tropper really brings the characters to life in his writing and brings a reality to paper that I haven't found in other authors.
A great read.

This is a very male centric novel. (So many mentions of viagra and its results) that being said, I do like Mr Tropper's novels and style.
This is about Zack, a 32 year old who at the start of the book, has a good job, a fiancee, and is living rent free in NY with a good friend. But a series of events forces him to really look at his life and when he does, like the book title indicates...Everything Changes! His long lost father comes into the picture, he has a health scare and realizes that he is in love with his dead best friend's widow. Great book - the second I've read by Jonathan Tropper - I gave the Book of Joe 5 stars - would have given it more if I could, and since I didn't like it as much as that one, I'm giving this one 4 stars.
