This was a great follow up and expansion on Game of Thrones where each POV felt like the beginning of their own little book and each brought an interesting perspective.
I found Daenerys' chapters to be the most disappointing, she felt forgotten at times or little was being done.
Catelyn had some of the best writing Martin has ever done.

It you’re wondering why I added the “hopeful” tag, I urge you to reread with special attention to Brienne, Bran, and Dany as characters — especially Bran’s last chapter. GRRM isn’t the pessimist that the Game of Thrones adaption has convinced everyone he is. Another banger book in a series of bangers!
I liked this a lot more than I did last year. I listened to the audiobook and it helped me get through this behemoth of a book.
