I am a bit disappointed by this novel. I had expected more. The last book was all intrigues and danger and plots and fun times, but this one was just war, war, war, killing, war, fighting, war, death, death, death, pain, hurt, loss, more loss, even more loss, and then some more war.
Honestly, this series gets more depressing by the novel. I also want more along the way of plots and thinking... this base fighting is pretty lame. Also, there are a ton of cliffhangers still, that make me want to keep reading, but at the same time they irritate me since I just want the story, and I want it now.
Anyway, the writing style is still good. Martin has a way with characters that bring them to life, even the horrid ones. Or rahter, especially the horrid ones.
I'm hoping that the next book will bring the Stark children back together again... although I suppose in a way that that is a false hope, seeing as how this book ended. Still, there are so many unfair things that are happening to innocents and women and children and those who have no part in the fighting at all. It's really no fun at all to read these books... the only thing that makes it palatable at all is the conieving needed to understand the deeper plots.
Also, what will now happen to this land that has about 10 different people fighting to rule it? Will it ever be brought under one banner again (say, Dany?) or is it all going to fragment, essentially what happened to our Europe? Ah... I do so hope that the next book is better.

Warning: If you love your characters dearly and have the tendency to get attached immediately to your characters then this book is not for you. I repeat THIS.BOOK.IS.NOT.FOR.YOU.
Don't pick it up from the book shelf.
Don't touch it.
Don't even look at it.
Just RUN. Run as fast as you can, my little wolf.
Because Mr. Martin have this fascination of killing off his characters. He kill his characters not just in a classic get stab in the gut and die of blood loss kind of way. He have this other fascination of be-heading his characters and hanging their heads for the crows to eat. Some got to experience getting their skin flayed off and some got to experience how it feels to be burned.
But if you're a masochist of some sort, who can read while being consumed of paranoia thinking if your favorite character will be the next one to die, then by all means, join me.
Grab a copy and let us all prepare ourselves in the incoming onslaught of FEELS because WINTER is COMING.
I know I have warned you about having favorites but when I picked up the first book, no one was there to warn me about this things. So I kindda got attached to some characters in this story.
First is Eddard Stark, whom we all know got his head detached from the rest of his body and was named traitor by that oaf of a King-- Joffrey.
My second favorite is Jon Snow who is still alive (Thank you, Mr. Martin for sparing his life) and still kicking some ass up in the wall together with his brothers in the Night Watch.
Third is Tyrion Lannister, whom I love dearly cause of his bluntness, wittiness and just him being the IMP he is. We also share the same hate towards Cersei and Joffrey. I really like it when he's standing up against Joffrey The Jerk, showing him that he's not afraid of him even if he's the king.
I have other favorites namely Arya, Bran, Robb, Dany and many more (yeah, poor me.)
Then we have Sansa, I really don't know where to put her. I don't know if it's in the LOVE or LOATHE section. Sometimes I pity her cause of all of her misfortunes and the abuse she gets from Joffrey, that I just wanna cuddle her and baby her in the LOVE section. Sometimes she annoys me to death due to her superficial view in life, that a gallant and beautiful knight in his shining armor will strode towards Casterly Rocks and whisk her away from her miserable life.
So, yeah. It's already 12:02am and I'm kindda sleepy already and i don't know what to add anymore, so yeah. I am so looking forward for the next book. And I can't wait to watch the next season in the telly.
So yeah. HODOR!
