Spoilers Ahead
Heartstopper, they could never make me hate you. I absolutely adore you so much.
In this book, Nick and Charlie are going around France on a school trip with their school. They are battling with the decision to come out to people, who to tell, worrying about the backlash of it. The iconic teacher couple from the Netflix series are finally in the comic, and they made it so so so much better, and it follows Charlie’s struggles with mental health and eating disorders, and Nick tries to help him through it.
I just read a review (from a parent) saying that this book is “100% grooming”, because it’s about kids having sex? First of all, that doesn’t actually happen (to my knowledge) in this book, and second of all, it’s so unrealistic thinking that all children don’t have sex at that age. Prohibiting reading about it is only going to increase the likelihood that they have sex in a safe way, not stop them from doing it. As it is, in other books, Oseman touches really taboo subjects that kids need to be exposed to, like sex, and protection, and mental illnesses. The problem with this review is I’m 90% sure it’s nothing to do with the ‘sexual content’, and everything to do with the fact that it’s two boys doing it. SMH!
Anyway, rant over, I thought this book was too cute, just like the others. It’s not my favourite, I’m not really sure what it’s not doing for me, however I never really liked the Paris scene in the Netflix, series, either. However, still a lovely book, and I can’t wait to complete the series!

I was going to give this book 3.75 stars. However, I happened to read it beside my buddy Alex.
He said, "3.75??!! You were giggling and kicking your feet the entire time!"
Which come to think of it. He was right.

Excuse my rambling, but I feel Harry was done justice in the books rather than the Netflix show.

He stuck up for Nick and Charlie during the Paris trip, and Nick asking "Did Harry just try to defend us?"
He apologized at the party rather than the movie theater to Charlie.

To me, that seems a lot more organized than the shows way of putting it.

People are angry about Ben getting written out of the show in season 3. Bestie. He got written out of Volume 1 in the books. What do you mean?

Alice Oseman did a really good job introducing a threatening character.
If that's the person that made the illustrations instead of the books.
They made it so you were scared of Nick's brother showing up out of nowhere.

Nick's dad was introduced, but I don't think in the show he was fully French?
* I'm not complaining. If anything, I like that idea rather than him being English completely*

Although! I haven't seen season two, so I wouldn't have any idea how his dad acts.

I understand that books, movies, and shows are completely different! But it's fun to point this stuff out and see what's "correct" and what's not!

This installment has many sweet moments between Nick and Charlie and their friends. It also delves into teen mental health and eating disorders. It does so in an approachable way that I think is an important message for teens.
