I love the continuation of Nick and Charlie’s story! I love seeing stories develop past that first kiss stage and see people really care for each other during difficult times. Relationships can be interesting even past the falling in love story!
You can really see how much Nick cares for Charlie by noticing his eating disorder that no one else had noticed. It looks like there are some hard times ahead for the boys, but I can’t wait to read all about it and how they handle it together.

My only downside would be that it seemed really short.

This is the point in the series where we start to learn more about charlies ed and things start to get more serious. Its not a complete change of pace of events and that makes it all the more realistic. We still continue to get cute and funny moments, but its not all sunshine and butterflies from this point on. Alice Oseman gives us the perfect balance of everything- from sarcasm to angst, from dorky jokes to serious discussions about mental health- that its hard to believe the characters are in fact not real and my friends.

My heart has been caught by this sweet little series. I can't sing its praises enough. And I will be for a very long time.
Nick and Charlie deepen their relationship further on a school trip to Paris. And to say it gets steamy... Might be an understatement. But Oseman once again weaves heavy topics like outing, eating disorders, acceptance, understanding boundaries, forgiveness, bullying, and the like in a way that never goes full doom and gloom. Even though self-harm is mentioned as a result to constant and relentless bullying. But it's predicated with love and openness in way that will hopefully keep that from happening again. Which is refreshing. Because this is a story featuring teenagers. So their emotions are volatile. Everything feels like it's a one hundred on the emotions scale. Or at least that's what I remember it being like when I was that young. But Oseman does something affectionately endearing and valid in this issue. It feels like this volume is dedicated to Nick's coming out and how even something centered around him and his development does have a ripple effect on Charlie and Charlie's past traumas. Oseman clearly wants you, me, and everyone who reads this to know that coming out is not easy, it's not a universal experience for every queer person, and it has to be done over and over again. Educating people constantly about yourself like a never ending revolving door. But you shouldn't have to feel pressured to come out. You don't owe it to anyone to come out. So you get to come out when you feel like it. And I thought that was amazingly beautiful. Also, love the fact that Nick is a really queer HIMBO (in the best loving way possible) and actually pays attention to Charlie's trauma and asks him about it. Even deducing deeply rooted things that Charlie's closest friends might not even realize about him yet because they're still helping him heal from the bullying he had to go through.
I'm dreading reading volume 4 only because I wanna know it all and volume 5 cannot come fast enough. I will be re-reading this story for ages to come. So precious. So wonderful. What simple love should be like. Also, Mr. Farouk and Mr. Ajayi, wonderful additions to the overall story. Oseman you genius I tip my hat to you! Highly recommend!
