Alice Oseman has done it again, another heart warming volume that leaves the reader craving more! In this volume she explores Nick and Charlie's relationship a lot more and feelings surrounding 'coming out'. Oseman really portrays how much inner turmoil a person goes through with their sexuality and I applaud her for it. She shows that despite the homophobic opinions that a lot of people still have, a strong and supportive network of friends and family can get you through anything and help you accept yourself. I also love how diverse this series is in terms of sexuality, gender, race and ethnicity!
The only thing I wish was done differently in this volume was the touches on mental health. I think it's fantastic that Alice was approaching mental health topics and challenging the taboos that are still very present in today's society, especially a male with an eating disorder. However, I wish she had focused more on the one mental health issue rather than lightly touching on two. I just feel that there could have been a lot more to give on the mental health aspects. Hopefully there's more of it to come in volume 4!
