To my surprise, this ended up being disappointing. I was gripped for half the book, and even said to my partner that this was a good book. It is funny and makes you wonder what on earth will happen next. But after 200 pages I suddenly got very, very bored, and there was nothing really that gripped me. Maybe if I read it again in a few years I'll feel differently, but for now I can only say I am disappointed.

I really enjoyed the first book, but the new adventures were not as interesting. The narrator wasn't very good, either. He sounded like he was out of breath and talked too fast.

Satiren föll för mig ganska platt, men i det stora hela var det en underhållande, om än onödig, fortsättning på Hundra(ett)åringens resa.

I get that this book was written long after the first, and that it was amusing that Allen encountered current day lunatics. But I could not suspend belief when the man turned 100 in 2005, and then turned 101 in this book, obviously set in 2017. I also had to ignore the half dozen other people who were with him and Julius in Indonesia at the last book, and that their hotel was owned by Allen's friend/girlfriend/whatever. Still very amusing and full of adventures, but the timeline and context didn't follow nicely, and I missed the historical components of the narrative of the previous book.
